
With a new rush of asylum-seekers crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into El Paso, the city and its community partners are reaching the "breaking point," Mayor Oscar Leeser said. Leeser said more than 2,000 asylum-seekers were processed on Friday and a conversation with Customs and Border Protection officials showed as many as 6,500 already in custody.
