WASHINGTON—House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Richard Neal set a final April 23 deadline for the IRS to turn over President Trump’s tax returns.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin called the new deadline “arbitrary” on Saturday without saying whether the administration would meet it as it studies the legal questions involved. If that date passes without the documents or a resolution to the dispute, House Democrats and the Trump administration could be headed for a clash in federal court.
