Student Press Law Center
Since 1974, the Student Press Law Center is the nation's only legal assistance agency devoted exclusively to educating high school and college journalists about the rights and responsibilities embodied in the First Amendment, and supporting the student news media to cover important issues free from censorship.
The SPLC provides free legal information and free or low cost educational materials to student journalists and their advisers. The SPLC also has an Attorney Referral Network of approximately 215 lawyers across the country who are available to provide free legal representation to students when necessary. Annually, about 2,000 student journalists, advisers and others contact the SPLC for help.
The SPLC is a nonprofit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) corporation headquartered in Washington, D.C.
