Scriberr Media - News
AllSides gives Scriberr Media's news section a Center rating. In June 2020, two AllSides editors conducted independent reviews and and both rated Scriberr Media's news section as center for their thorough, balanced reporting, and disuse of emotionalism, sensationalism, slant and media bias. Note that Center doesn't mean better! A Center media bias rating does not necessarily mean a source is unbiased, neutral, perfectly reasonable, or credible. It simply means the source or writer rated does not predictably publish perspectives favoring either end of the political spectrum — conservative or liberal. This media bias rating only refers to the news section at Scriberr Media and not their opinion/editorial section. AllSides rates the media bias for Scriberr Media's opinion/editorial section as Lean Right; the articles tend to focus on perspectives and topics that are more in line with/of interest to the right, though there are some perspectives from other sides present. Scriberr Media is a nonpartisan free speech media company based in Los Angeles, California. According to their website, Scriberr's mission is to provide original reporting that "report the truth fully and give all sides to controversial, political issues so that readers can decide for themselves where they align." Founded in 2019, it is independently owned by Jamie Joseph, Michael Ayetiwa and Kalen D'Almeida.
Scriberr’s co-founder and field reporter, Kalen D’Almeida, was attacked on June 14 while reporting in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) at approximately 1:50 a.m. The zone had been named a “police-free” occupation, and footage captured by D’Almeida showed the various aspects of its community coming together to support one another.
While CHAZ remained relatively peaceful during the day and reports of a “festival-like” vibe permeated the six-block zone, a select number of groups lurked the streets after sunset. According to D’Almeida, a few of these groups were ANTIFA, John Brown Gun Club, and alleged “warlord” rapper Raz Simone and his followers.
“I was sitting on a couch 40 yards away filming Raz Simone in case anything interesting happened while he was out,” D’Almeida said. There had been multiple reports the previous nights of Simone patrolling the zone with a gun harnessed on his leg.
