President Donald Trump said administration officials were working on Independence Day to find a way to include a citizenship question in the 2020 census.
Axios reported Thursday that the administration is considering an executive order to force the issue, even though the government has begun the process of printing the questionnaire without the question.
'So important for our Country that the very simple and basic "Are you a Citizen of the United States?' question be allowed to be asked in the 2020 Census,"' Trump said in his first tweet of the holiday.
'Department of Commerce and the Department of Justice are working very hard on this, even on the 4th of July!'
