PARK CITY — The Sundance Film Festival will be packing up and heading east to Colorado after over 40 years in Utah. The Sundance Institute announced Thursday that it will relocate the massive film festival to Boulder, Colorado, spitting away from the state it originated in. "Boulder is an art town, tech town, mountain town, and college town," Sundance Institute CEO Amanda Kelso said in a prepared statement. "It is a place where the Festival can build and flourish. ... We can't imagine a better fit than Boulder." Rumors swirled...

After a yearlong search, the Sundance Film Festival announced Thursday that its new home will be Boulder, Colorado, keeping Sundance in the mountains but moving it out of Park City, the Utah ski town that had for decades provided the premier independent film gathering its picturesque snowy backdrop. Organizers said that after 40 years in the mountains, the festival had outgrown Park City, and lacked the necessary theaters or affordable housing to continue hosting what has become one of North America’s most sprawling movie events. Sundance had narrowed down the...

The Sundance Film Festival is getting on its horse and moving to Boulder. After months of multimillion-dollar funding appeals from cities across the country, the nonprofit film festival board announced Thursday that the famed event will move from its longtime home in Park City, Utah, to Colorado beginning in 2027. Boulder beat out a combined bid from Park City and Salt Lake City, as well as one from Cincinnati, which revealed earlier that it was no longer in the running. The city is now set to host the event from...

The Sundance Film Festival has a new home. After four decades in Park City and a year-long search process to find a new location at the expiration of its current contract, the beloved indie film festival is heading to Boulder, Colorado for its 2027 iteration. Boulder beat out many other locations, most notably fellow finalists Cincinnati and Salt Lake City, the latter of which would have included some operations in Park City. The new contract with the city of Boulder and the state of Colorado will be for 10 years,...

The Sundance Film Festival will relocate to Boulder, Colo. in 2027, ending its decades-long run in Park City, Utah. The festival reached a 10 year-deal with city officials after an extensive search for a new base of operations. The snowy haven prevailed against two other finalists: Cincinnati, Ohio and Salt Lake City and Park City. In selecting Boulder, the festival’s leadership cited the fact that it is a college town as well as a tech hub. It also highlighted the community’s natural beauty, something that has been a key component...

(CNN) — Are you keeping a mental list of all the sources of microplastics finding their way into your daily life? You may have another culprit to consider: It’s gum, according to a new pilot study that found chewing just one piece can release hundreds to thousands of microplastics into saliva. The study is currently being peer-reviewed and will be presented at the biannual meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego Tuesday. Once the review is complete, the authors hope the report will be published in the Journal...

(CNN) — Gene testing firm 23andMe said on Sunday it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to facilitate its sale, after years of struggling to find a sustainable business model. In a statement announcing the bankruptcy, the firm said its CEO and co-founder, Anne Wojcicki, had resigned effective immediately. “After a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives, we have determined that a court-supervised sale process is the best path forward to maximize the value of the business,” Mark Jensen, chair and member of the Special Committee of the...
