Spring is here, but the signs of spring are slow to come. Most of the woodland wildflowers have yet to push up through the leaf litter on the forest floor. However, there are two early bloomers, blooming now, that, while not large and showy (like lady’s slippers or trillium) have a special place in my heart mostly because they look, to me, like friendly little sparks of life in the woods, appearing where you wouldn’t expect a flower to be … on a small tree! Two men who followed him into the elevator tapped him on the shoulder, identified themselves as federal agents, and tackled him when he tried to flee. They detained him mere steps from the courtroom door, causing him to miss the hearing for which he had arrived on time, according to court records and a local police official. Arnuel S. Marquez Colmenarez, 33, made it to the courthouse in Nashua in time for his Feb. 20 arraignment on misdemeanor charges, went through security, and rode the elevator to the third floor....

New Hampshire residents could face delays in accessing mental health care, such as months-long waits to see a therapist and even longer hold times for inpatient psychiatric services, if the legislature approves proposed cuts to the state’s mental health funding. Currently, the state's community mental health programs are funded with around a $40 million annual budget. However, on April 1, the House Finance Committee proposed reducing this amount to $31 million per year in the next state budget. This reduction contradicts Gov Kelly Ayotte's proposed plan to add $18 million...
