North Dakota State faces South Dakota State in the FCS semifinals on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024 (12/21/24) at Fargo Dome in Fargo, North Dakota. Fans can watch the game via a free trial to fuboTV or DirecTV Stream. Here’s what you need to know: CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — The Ivy League will compete in the FCS playoffs beginning next season, the conference announced on Wednesday, ending a century-long postseason ban originally aimed at allowing the athletes to focus on their schoolwork. ā€œIt’s a monumental day in the Ivy League and...

A North Dakota police chief says he cannot get help from the Biden administration regarding criminal activity involving Tren de Aragua gang members. North Dakota is now the 17th state to report Tren de Aragua gang crime. West Fargo Police Chief Pete Nielson told the New Your Post that his small department needs federal resources to deal with the recent appearance of Tren de Aragua gang members in his city. ā€œIf you don’t have federal help on these crimes crossing all these different state lines, it’s difficult for local police...

North Dakota’s Industrial Commission approved a plan Thursday to accept millions of tons of carbon dioxide to be permanently stored underground against the wishes of some landowners in the storage area. Iowa-based Summit Carbon Solutions plans to build a network of pipelines that gathers emissions from ethanol plants across five states. If built, the pipeline would end west of Bismarck, N.D., where three injection wells will pump the CO2 deep beneath private property into pore space — gaps and voids between the rocks. Summit compensates landowners for use of their...

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota panel will consider Thursday whether to approve permits for underground storage of hundreds of millions of metric tons of carbon dioxide that a proposed pipeline would carry from ethanol plants throughout the Midwest. Approval from the governor-led, three-member Industrial Commission would be another victory for Summit Carbon Solutions’ controversial project, though further court challenges are likely. Last month, the company gained approval for its North Dakota route, and Iowa regulators also have given conditional approval.

Solar energy is only just beginning to emerge as a power source in North Dakota. Today, coal and wind energy are the most common power sources in the state, with solar trailing far behind. Though the SEIA says the cost of solar panels has fallen significantly in the last decade, North Dakota residents normally pay low energy prices, so investing in solar panels doesn't always make financial sense for the state's residents. If you live in North Dakota and are interested in solar panels for your home, you'll be more...

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A ballot initiative recreational in North Dakota has qualified for the November election, the state’s top election official said Monday. That sets up another vote on the issue in the conservative state after voters and lawmakers rejected previous efforts in recent years. North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe said nearly 19,000 signatures were accepted after his office’s review, several thousand more than was needed to earn placement on the ballot. The group that sponsored the measure, New Economic Frontier, had more than 22,000 signatures in...

North Dakota Democrats believe Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will be a champion for rural America and reacted positively in the first hours after Kamala Harris picked Walz as her running mate. State House Minority Leader Rep. Zachary Ista, D-Grand Forks, said Walz seems to have a ā€œdown-to-earth, Midwest demeanor,ā€ that he thinks will play well on the Harris ticket this fall. Vice President Harris named Walz her running mate on Tuesday after officially becoming the Democrats’ nominee for president. ā€œYou can really see how effective of a football coach he...

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) said the administration’s proposed plan ā€˜stifles North Dakota’s energy development’ and its production. The Biden administration unveiled its final resource management plan for North Dakota on Aug. 9, which suggests restricting future coal leases on federal lands in the state. The BLM also proposed closing oil and gas leases in any areas of North Dakota identified as having ā€œlow developmental potentialā€ or state-designated drinking water source protection areas.

The Biden administration this week issued a proposal to significantly reduce the amount of federal land in North Dakota that can be used for mining coal in the future, The Hill reports. Under the plan, the amount of federal land eligible for coal development would drop by more than 90%. The administration said the move won't affect coal production levels through 2040, but noted it would "preclude the development of future mines." The proposed restrictions apply only to land owned by the federal government. North Dakota is the fifth largest...

A long-serving prominent former state senator out of North Dakota entered a guilty plea in federal court, admitting he traveled to Prague during his political tenure for the purpose of sexually abusing young boys. Ray Holmberg — a Republican lawmaker who served in North Dakota’s Legislative Assembly from 1997 until his June 1, 2022 resignation over allegations connecting him to another suspected child sex abuser – traveled about 14 times to the Czech Republic’s capital city where ā€œyoung boys provided commercial sexual servicesā€ to the lawmaker, federal prosecutors said in...
