SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s a reunion in Tuscaloosa. Kalen DeBoer is set to hire Ryan Grubb as his offensive coordinator with Alabama. Grubb, a native of Kingsley, Iowa, worked on DeBoer’s staff at USF back in the 2000s, and the two have teamed up at several stops in between. They were separated last year in DeBoer’s first year with the Crimson Tide as Grubb served as the Seattle Seahawks’ OC. Grubb and DeBoer helped lead former Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to a runner-up finish in the Heisman...

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., has introduced a bill proposing to carve President Donald Trump into Mount Rushmore. The South Dakota national memorial shows the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Luna's announcement of the bill, which does not include any details on the timing or funding of the project, includes a rendering of Trump's figure in stone next to Lincoln's. “President Trump’s bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America’s greatness have cemented his place in history," Luna said in a press release.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A medical transport jet carrying a child patient, her mother and four others has crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood about 30 seconds after taking off, erupting in a fireball and engulfing several homes in flames.

All six people aboard were from Mexico.

The child had been treated in Philadelphia for a life-threatening condition and was being transported home.

The crash comes two days after the country’s deadliest aviation disaster in almost a quarter century, in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has introduced legislation to put President Donald Trump on the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota. The legislation would add Trump’s bust to the iconic mountainside carving, joining presidential greats George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Luna said the legislation is meant to honor Trump’s accomplishments, including economic growth, national security, and foreign policy. “President Trump’s bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America’s greatness have cemented his place in history.

PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A new poll shows that South Dakotans don’t support the implementation of education savings accounts. The South Dakota Public Schools Coalition commissioned the Virginia-based market research company, American Viewpoint, to see how voters in the state feel about education vouchers. Five hundred South Dakotans were interviewed by phone, and the results show they oppose education savings accounts by a margin of up to 58%. The poll also showed that 57% of voters believe public schools receive too little funding. House Bill 1020 was introduced...

South Dakota's Republican Governor Kristi Noem was confirmed by the Senate as the next secretary of the Department of Homeland Security in a bipartisan vote on Saturday.

The final vote was 59 to 34, with six Democrats in the upper chamber of Congress joining Republicans to vote in favor of President-elect Donald Trump's nominee. Here is a full list of the Democratic Senators who backed Noem:

This is a developing story and will be updated with additional information.

WASHINGTON − South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will be the new secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the third of President Donald Trump's nominees to now be confirmed. Noem earned the requisite number of votes from Senators Monday evening and was confirmed with a vote of 59-34. Former Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was confirmed to be Secretary of State in a unanimous vote Monday and former Fox News Host was confirmed as Secretary of Defense 51-50 Friday night, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. The...

The Senate voted 59-34 Saturday to confirm South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as head of the Department of Homeland Security

Why it matters: Noem, a Trump loyalist and immigration hardliner, will play a crucial role in implementing President Trump's immigration policies, including his plans to carry out mass deportations and shut down the border.

The South Dakota governor’s ascension to DHS came as a surprise in some quarters. She doesn’t have a law enforcement background, and during her four terms as a House member she never served on the committee overseeing the department. But she had key support from Trump’s 2016 campaign chief, Corey Lewandowski, and border czar Tom Homan, who advocated for her nomination. Her history as a Trump loyalist also helped her win the nod, as well as her backing of the president’s plans to further crack down on the border and...

Former South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has successfully cleared a major hurdle in her Department of Homeland Security confirmation process, officially confirming her in the Senate as the next DHS secretary. The former South Dakota governor navigated the Senate's rigorous vetting process and is now leading the agency under the new Trump administration. Lawmakers gathered for a rare Saturday session to vote on Noem’s confirmation as the head of the top Cabinet position. The Senate ultimately confirmed her with a vote of 59-34. “During her confirmation hearing, I pressed Governor...
