Majority Of Venezuelans Vote To Annex Oil-Rich Region Of Guyana As previewed last week, on Sunday Venezuela would hold a referendum whether Maduro's socialist banana republic should annex the vast majority of its oil-rich neighbor, Guyana (because Venezuela doesn't have enough domestic issues to deal with, it may as well also invade a sovereign nation and start a war). And, as expected, an overwhelming majority of Venezuelan voters who took part in a referendum voted in favor of claiming sovereignty over most of the oil-rich territory of neighboring Guyana. Per...

CARACAS, Venezuela — The socialist regime here claimed on Sunday that 10.5 million Venezuelans votes in favor of annexing most of Guyana in a sham referendum — a claim disproven by footage taken nationwide and throughout the day of barren voting centers, as well as low turnout tallies at local stations. Socialist dictator NicolĆ”s Maduro organized a ā€œreferendumā€ on Sunday asking if the public supported the creation of a new state called Guayana Esequiba in a 61,600-square-mile territory disputed between Venezuela and Guyana for over 120 years. The creation of...

Venezuelan voters overwhelmingly approved of dictator Nicolas Maduro’s referendum claiming sovereignty over a neighboring oil-rich region on Sunday. The referendum argues that Venezuela has sole claim to Essequibo, an oil-rich region internationally recognized as part of Guyana. Voters approved the referendum by 95% on Sunday, and its passing has raised the possibility that Venezuela will seize the territory, potentially through an invasion, according to multiple reports.

Venezuelans voted Sunday to claim sovereignty over the oil-rich Essequibo region in neighboring Guyana, further escalating a long-standing territorial dispute between the two countries centered over energy resources, and sparking international concerns about annexation. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro touted the election results Sunday night as a ā€œtotal successā€ for the country.

Venezuelan electoral authorities on Sunday claimed that 95% of voters in a nonbinding referendum approved of the nation's territorial claim on a huge chunk of neighboring oil-rich Guyana. President Nicolas Maduro hailed what he called "an overwhelming victory for the 'Yes' throughout Venezuela." "We have taken the first steps of a new historic stage in the struggle for what belongs to us, to recover what the liberators left us," he said. The referendum raised fears in Guyana, and around the region, about Venezuela's ultimate intentions over the contested territory. Maduro,...
