Two of my favorite films are the original version of The Thomas Crown Affair and the later remake. The first version was released in 1968. It starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The remake was released in 1999 and starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. The first version won an Academy Award for Best Song, was nominated for Musical Score, and has been cited for then-cutting-edge cinematography. The second references the first in some similar scenes and the same music. Dunaway also appears in the second in a very different...

Democratic leaders and strategists blamed Kamala Harris’s record-low approval ratings as vice president on President Joe Biden, saying he "set her up to fail from day one," according to Time magazine. Harris’s dismal record on voters’ top issues, including illegal immigration, has come under scrutiny since she became her party’s presidential candidate. Democratic supporters, in a Time magazine cover story on Harris, blamed Biden for handing Harris his dirty work, leading to her widespread unpopularity as vice president.

The majority of Americans support plans to end federal taxes on tips given to service industry workers, according to an exclusive poll for Newsweek which shows why Kamala Harris embraced the policy plan first announced by her opponent Donald Trump. The survey run by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on July 29 among 1,750 eligible voters in the U.S. showed that 67 percent of Americans believe that tips given to service workers should not be taxed. At the time of the survey, conducted before Harris pledged to cut taxes on tips,...

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will speak to union workers in California on Tuesday before crisscrossing the country in his first solo fundraising blitz since being selected as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate. Mr. Walz will speak to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) at its annual convention in Los Angeles before heading to Newport Beach to raise money at a reception, the campaign said Monday. He’ll give remarks at fundraisers in Denver and Boston on Wednesday and stop in a pair of tony locales —...

Vice President Kamala Harris' chances of winning the battleground state of Nevada have soared, according to recent polls. On Saturday, at a rally at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Democratic presidential nominee promised to work to eliminate taxes on tips paid to hospitality and service industry employees. "It is my promise to everyone here that when I am president, we will continue our fight for working families of America, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers," Harris said. Her...

Vice President Kamala Harris echoed the sentiments of former President Donald Trump about supporting service workers and eliminating taxes on tips, prompting the Republican nominee to call her a copycat. In a campaign speech Saturday in Nevada, Ms. Harris said it’s her “promise” to continue “to fight for working families, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.” Mr. Trump was quick to defend the policy idea that he originally introduced in June at a Las Vegas rally. “Kamala Harris, whose ’Honeymoon’...

Vice President Kamala Harris is under fire from critics and conservatives for "copying" former President Trump’s campaign vow to not tax service industry employees' tips after the Biden-Harris administration rolled out a plan to crack down on waiters’ tips. "Now is a good time to remind everyone that #CopyCatKamala’s administration rolled out a new enforcement program JUST LAST YEAR to collect more taxes on tips! She could stop it now… but she won’t, because she’s a dishonest fraud!" Trump campaign political director James Blair posted to X. Blair was responding...

Vice President Kamala Harris pledged that as president, she would push to eliminate taxes on tips — echoing an idea first proposed by her opponent, Donald Trump. “When I am president, we will continue our fight for working families of America, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris said during a campaign rally Saturday at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. It was the last stop for Harris and her running mate on the Democratic ticket, Minnesota Gov. Tim...

Vice President Kamala Harris told supporters in Nevada on Saturday she supported eliminating taxes on tips, taking a similar position to her rival Donald Trump in an effort to win over service workers, an important constituency in the state. Harris and her Democratic running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, wrapped up a multi-day tour of battleground states on Saturday with their stop in Nevada, a western state that could play a pivotal role in the Nov. 5 presidential election. "It is my promise to everyone here when I am president...
