President Trump ousted more than a dozen inspectors general at multiple government agencies overnight, according to multiple reports, shaking up federal oversight just days after returning to the White House. Trump fired around 17 watchdogs at various agencies within the Defense Department, State Department, Energy Department, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and others.

According to multiple outlets, most of the people fired were inspectors Trump had appointed during his first term.
