The U.S. Military Academy has disbanded a dozen West Point cadet clubs centered on ethnicity, gender, race and sexuality in response to the Trump administration’s push to eliminate diversity programs throughout government. The famed military academy in New York issued a memo Tuesday shutting down groups including the Asian-Pacific Forum Club, Latin Cultural Club, National Society of Black Engineers Club and Society of Women Engineers Club in order to adhere to recent guidance from the Army and Defense Department. It also shut down the Corbin Forum, a decades-old leadership club...

West Point has disbanded a number of identity-based clubs at the military academy to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive orders and new Pentagon guidance, Fox News has confirmed. Some of the clubs no longer sanctioned by the university include the Asian-Pacific Forum, the Korean-American relations seminar, the Latin Cultural Club, the National Society of Black Engineers Club and the Society of Women Engineers Club. The U.S. Military Academy communications office said the clubs had been dissolved because they were affiliated with the DEI office.

The United States Military Academy at West Point has moved to dismantle 12 organizations, including affinity groups and engineering societies, following President executive orders to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across the federal government. An internal memorandum from the Department of the Army, dated February 4 and widely circulated online, orders the immediate shutdown of these student groups, barring them from holding meetings, planning events, or maintaining any public presence.

The National Society of Black Engineers and Latin Cultural Club were among them. President Donald Trump’s executive orders and other directives attacking civil rights have led to a military memo ordering the United States Military Academy at West Point to remove several clubs that exist to diversify military service. “Effective immediately, all Directorate of Cadet Activities (DCA) sanctioned clubs listed below are hereby disbanded,” said the document, which has circulated online. The memo also indicates that trips, meetings, and other events and activities tied to the clubs have been canceled.

By summary memorandum West Point has banned all clubs for minorities from the campus. Some of these clubs have existed for decades, including the National Society of Black Engineers Club, have existed for decades. The January 4th memorandum states that it is “in accordance with recent Presidential Executive Orders.” The memo states that the listed “are hereby disbanded.” The directive states it “cancels all trip sections, meetings, events, and other activities of these clubs.” I wonder what happens to money already spent by clubs on future trips, events or activities....

The U.S. Military Academy has banned organizations centered primarily on ethnic and gender affiliation as part of what it says is compliance with the effort to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs in government. The move, outlined in a memorandum issued Tuesday by West Point, told 12 campus clubs to immediately shut down all activities, formal and informal.
