Dropping bombshells is always better than dropping literal bombs. But President Donald Trump’s pronouncement that ā€œthe U.S. will take over the Gaza Stripā€ may be too close for comfort. Standing next to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump laid out his new plan to take possession of the 140-square-mile strip of land, clear out the tens of millions of tons of debris caused by the 15-month Israel–Hamas war, and economically develop it through nation-building. ā€œWe’ll own it. And be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded bombs and other...

Survey Says is a weekly column rounding up three of the most important polling trends or data points you need to know about. You’ll also find data-based updates on past Daily Kos reporting, plus a vibe check on a trend that’s driving politics. President Donald Trump stunned the world on Tuesday when he proposed that the U.S. seize the Gaza Strip and displace the 2 million Palestinians living there. As always, it’s impossible to gauge how serious he is. On Wednesday, the White House press secretary ludicrously called the proposal...

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly approves of President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip to pave the way for a U.S. takeover of the region. He has instructed the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to prepare to carry out the initiative. Trump announced the plan during a joint press conference with Netanyahu on Tuesday. ā€œThe U.S. will take over the Gaza strip ... and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site ... create an economic development...

ISRAEL publicly began ā€œpreparationsā€ for the removal of Palestinians from Gaza today despite international rejection of US President Donald Trump’s proposal to empty the territory of its population. Egypt has launched a diplomatic blitz behind the scenes warning any such action would put its peace deal with Israel at risk, officials said. The Trump administration has already dialled back aspects of the suggestion given its frosty international reception, saying any relocation of the region’s 2.3 million people would be temporary.
