Hey OnPolitics readers! Former President Donald Trump's campaign has stepped up its vice presidential search, requesting detailed information from at least four of the top contenders. North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott have all been asked to submit background information to the Trump campaign, according to two people familiar with the process, USA TODAY's David Jackson reported.

Axios reported Thursday that the Trump campaign had sent out paperwork to eight potential contenders for his vice-presidential pick. Trump’s apparent shortlist included four senators: J.D. Vance (R-OH), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Tim Scott (R-SC). Also included were Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Byron Donalds (R-FL), Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND), and a former HUD secretary, Ben Carson. Also noteworthy in the report is that some of the candidates received larger or shorter packets, depending on how seriously the Trump campaign is considering them.

(WKBN) – According to the Associated Press, Ohio Senator JD Vance is among four people who have recently received vetting papers for the position of vice president. Vance, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott all received the requests. Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik and Trump’s 2016 rival-turned cabinet member Ben Carson were also said to be on the list of candidates who could be named Trump’s running mate, according to the Associated Press. Vance said in May...

Ohio Sen. JD Vance gets VP vetting papers from Trump campaign as running mate search heats up The Donald Trump campaign has stepped up its vice presidential search, requesting detailed information from at least four of the top contenders including Ohio Sen. JD Vance. In addition to Vance, who lives in Cincinnati and grew up in Middletown, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott have all been asked to submit background information to the Trump campaign, according to two people familiar with...

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign has requested information from a group of men who may be the former president’s 2024 running mate. About six weeks prior to the Republican National Convention, the campaign has asked for vetting paperwork from North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Sens. Marco Rubio, Florida, and J.D. Vance, Ohio, sources told ABC News. Trump campaign officials have also requested information from Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina, and Reps. Bryron Donalds, Florida, and Elise Stefanik, New York, and former Trump cabinet member Ben Carson, sources said. According...

It’s the question everyone’s been asking: Who will Donald Trump’s running mate be this time? The former president’s team came a little bit closer to providing an answer, as it has reached out to a few members of what are presumably Trump’s short list to ask for vetting paperwork. ABC News was the first to report on the requests, and noted that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance. NBC News added South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott to that list, citing an unnamed...

Former President Trump has requested financial and other documents from eight potential VP picks as he formalizes his vetting, an official tells Axios.

The intrigue: Some candidates got more extensive paperwork requests than others — a possible clue to how hotly they're being considered.

The contenders, in no particular order:

Donald Trump’s campaign has sent vetting paperwork to a list of the leading candidates to become his running mate in the 2024 presidential election, according to a report. Two people familiar with the development told the Associated Press that the Republican’s campaign has been requesting information from the potential VP picks in recent weeks. One of the sources said those who have received requests include North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Trump’s onetime rival for the 2016...

With the Republican National Convention just weeks away, former President Donald Trump’s campaign has reportedly sent vetting materials to potential running mates. Trump has whittled his vice presidential candidates down to four: North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Tim Scott of South Carolina, and J.D. Vance of Ohio, NBC News reported Wednesday, citing an unnamed source. Another unnamed source told the network it is a three-way competition involving Burgum, Rubio, and Vance. It’s unknown, though, who has been asked to provide vetting details that could...
