GALVESTON – Four people have drowned at Galveston beaches since Memorial Day, with the most recent tragedy occurring on Sunday when a 20-year-old woman lost her life. The 20 year-old woman from Dickinson was found floating face down on the east side of the jetty near Tower 47 early Sunday morning. She either jumped or fell into the water near the jetty made of rocks and was reported missing in the area around 12:30 a.m., according to the beach patrol. Police are investigating the death of a Houston woman who reportedly drowned near Bermuda Beach in Galveston Friday morning, according to media reports. The 27-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was seen swimming and running in the area shortly before a witness saw her body lying face-down in shallow water, KHOU reports. The bystander pulled the woman out of the water before Galveston EMS arrived. The woman was pronounced dead at 7:47 a.m.
