They are 79-year-old Nurit Cooper and 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz, both kidnapped with their husbands from the kibbutz near Gaza. Plus, according to sources, the U.S. is seeking to delay a ground incursion to buy more time for hostage talks.

WASHINGTON, Oct 23 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden underscored the need to sustain "a continuous flow" of humanitarian assistance into Gaza in call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, the White House said. Biden also "welcomed the release of two additional hostages from Gaza earlier today, and reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing efforts to secure the release of all the remaining hostages taken by Hamas," the White House added. He also updated the prime minister on "U.S. support for Israel and ongoing efforts at regional deterrence, to...

Two more hostages who were kidnapped by Palestinian Islamic terrorists two weeks ago have been released by their captors. The families of Nurit Cooper, 79, and Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, were notified that both women were released by Hamas. Their husbands are still being held hostage. They have reportedly been handed over to the Red Cross. Joe Truzman, a research analyst for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) focused on Palestinian armed groups, said that Hamas’ claims that it released the hostages for humanitarian reasons were bogus. “It’s simply a...

Two elderly Israeli women were released by Hamas after being held as hostages for over two weeks. The International Committee of the Red Cross announced on Monday that two hostages were released by Hamas after being kept captive in the Gaza Strip since the terrorist group's surprise attack on Oct. 7. Israeli media identified the two as Nurit Cooper, 79, and Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, who were seized from the kibbutz of Nir Oz. The release comes amid heavy United States pressure for Israel to delay its planned ground offensive to...

Hamas released two more hostages on Monday, just days after releasing two American women on Friday, sources confirmed to CBS News after a spokesperson for Hamas announced the release. According to a message posted to a Hamas-affiliated Telegram channel, the two hostages released Monday were let go for humanitarian reasons after mediation by Qatar and Egypt. Israel has said 222 hostages were taken during Hamas' deadly Oct. 7 rampage into Israel. A Red Cross representative in Gaza told CBS News that he could not confirm or deny any reports about...

Hamas said it was setting free two more civilian hostages on Monday, while negotiations over a possible release of a group of 50 captives stumbled over the militant group’s demand that Israel allow fuel deliveries into Gaza, according to officials familiar with the talks. Hamas, Qatar, Egypt, and Israel have been in talks in recent days over a proposal to release a larger...

The source, who spoke with Newsweek on the condition of anonymity, said the deal was made possible via mediation. In a statement shared by Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades, spokesperson Abu Obaida also credited Egypt and Qatar, alleging that "the enemy has refused since last Friday to accept their receipt and is still neglecting the issue of prisoners." "We have decided to release them...
