Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, won a second term in the election on Tuesday in the red state. With 87% of votes counted, data showed Beshear with 654,537 votes and 52.5% support, beating out Republican candidate Daniel Cameron, who had 592,884 votes and 47.5% support. The numbers were sufficient enough for the Associated Press and others to call the contest in Beshear’s favor and for Cameron to concede the race. Cameron, the state’s attorney general, said in his concession speech that he called the governor to congratulate him and...

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — There were several races on the ballot this Election Day, and Republicans took every statewide office, excluding the governor. Allison Ball will now move from the treasurer’s office into the job of auditor. She faced Democrat Kim Reeder. Jonathan Shell had a convincing win over Sierra Enlow in the race for agriculture commissioner. The incumbent Republican secretary of state, Michael Adams, will serve four more years after being reelected Tuesday night. He was challenged by former state Rep. Charles “Buddy” Wheatley. Republican Mark Metcalf is...

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear won reelection as Kentucky’s Chief Executive on Tuesday, defeating Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron by a wider margin than when he stopped Matt Bevin’s quest for a second term in 2019. The win makes him only the third governor in Kentucky history to win two consecutive terms. The others were Paul Patton, who was in office 1995-2003, and his father, Steve Beshear, who served from 2007 to 2015. “Tonight, Kentucky made a choice,” Beshear said during his victory speech, “A choice not...

Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is set to remain in office for four more years. Beshear defeated Daniel Cameron, his Republican challenger who has spent the past four years as the state's attorney general. Beshear was first elected in 2019 after previously serving as Kentucky’s attorney general. He has been the only Democrat elected to statewide office throughout his time as governor. While major news outlets have called the race, the results are not official. Not all votes have been counted yet, and under state law a recount would be...

(FOX NEWS) -- Democrats maintained their hold on deep-red Kentucky's governor seat Tuesday in a blow to Republicans ahead of the 2024 elections. The Associated Press called the race for incumbent Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear over Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who had been gaining in the polls in recent days after largely trailing by double-digits since the party primaries in May. "Tonight I stand here excited and optimistic about what we're going to do these next four years together," Beshear told a fired up crowd of supporters gathered at...

Kentucky’s Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear won a second term Tuesday evening, beating Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron for the seat, multiple outlets projected. Beshear defeated Cameron 53% to 47% at the time of writing, with 84% of the votes in, according to NBC News and CNN. Cameron’s campaign sought to portray the governor as too liberal for the red state, focusing on his record during the COVID-19 pandemic, on crime and parental rights in education, while the governor has criticized the attorney general for being too “partisan” and “extreme,” particularly...

Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear won his reelection bid in Kentucky, a red state easily carried by former President Donald Trump in the past two presidential elections, the Associated Press reports. Beshear defeated GOP nominee Daniel Cameron, currently Kentucky's attorney general. Polling showed Beshear, 45, with a sizable lead as recently as last month, when he was up 16 points, but an Emerson College poll released last week saw both candidates tied at 47%, with 4% of voters undecided. Representing a conservative state with a Republican-dominated legislature and two Republican U.S....

Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear survived a reelection challenge from Republican Daniel Cameron and dissatisfaction with President Biden to capture a second term in the red state of Kentucky. With 80% of the vote counted, Mr. Beshear had a lead of 53% to 47%, and both ABC and NBC called the race shortly before 9 p.m. Mr. Beshear ran on his stewardship of the state through the coronavirus. The 45-year-old pointed to the state’s economic development and low unemployment as proof of his administration was steering the state in the right...

Kentucky’s Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron was once considered a “rising star” in his state and in the GOP writ large. He may have burned too bright. In the deeply red state, Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear beat back Cameron on Tuesday to retain the Governor’s mansion and step on the narrative that voters are turning away from Democratic policies. In fact, the race wasn’t even that close. Beshear had about 53 percent of the vote compared to 47 percent for Cameron, with 83 percent reporting when CNN, NBC and Politico...
