President Joe Biden signed his $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law Monday afternoon during a ceremony on the White House South Lawn.

The bill includes hundreds of billions of dollars for roads, bridges and water supply networks; over $100 billion billion for railways and transit; $75 billion for clean energy initiatives; and $65 billion to improve broadband Internet access. Many of the Democratic and Republican lawmakers who were key in crafting and passing the legislation attended the ceremony. For months, Congress struggled to agree on the bill's terms, and its advance was blocked amid intraparty disputes between Democrats and a lack of flexibility from Republicans. The White House announced Sunday that former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who is credited with leading the city's recovery from Hurricane Katrina after taking office in 2010, would supervise the plan's implementation.

Outlets across the spectrum covered the bill Monday. Many left-rated sources described the bill as bipartisan and focused on Biden's plan for distributing the funds. Few right-rated sources covered the signing and instead framed the bill and Biden's efforts to promote it in a negative light.
