President Joe Biden drew a contrast between himself and former President Donald Trump at an event celebrating Microsoft’s $3.3 billion investment to build an AI data center in southeastern Wisconsin.

For Context: The land on which Microsoft’s data center is being built was first earmarked for a $10 billion Foxconn investment touted by then-President Trump. However, the project was scaled back heavily, leaving the land vacant. Trump had traveled to the region in 2018, referring to the proposed plant as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Repeating Trump's comments, Biden used the failed Foxconn project as an opportunity to critique the previous administration's economic approach and underline his administration’s advancements. "Foxconn turned out to be just that — a con," Biden said, adding that Trump came to Wisconsin "literally holding a golden shovel."

How The Media Covered It: Outside of tech and business outlets, most of which AllSides labels Center or Lean Left, politics-focused outlets across the spectrum tended to focus on Biden comparing himself to Trump. This summary was developed with the help of AllSides' AI technology.

President Biden traveled to Wisconsin on Wednesday where he touted his record on the economy and job creation while mocking former President Donald Trump‘s failure to come through with a highly touted tech campus in the region.

Mr. Biden spoke in Racine, Wisconsin, where he highlighted his administration’s role in building a $3.3 billion Microsoft data center that is expected to create roughly 2,000 jobs.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday took a shot at former President Donald Trump while touting the construction of a new data center in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.

The data center in question is being built by Microsoft in the same area where Trump once pledged electronics manufacturer Foxconn would build "the eighth wonder of the world" and usher in a slate of well-paid blue-collar jobs.

However, Trump's promise of a new manufacturing hub in the state fell through, as Foxconn all but abandoned the project three years ago.

President Joe Biden has just announced that Microsoft is planning to build a $3.3 billion data center in southeastern Wisconsin, right on the site where Foxconn, an electronics manufacturer company backed by Trump that was supposed to make a $10 billion investment in 2017 but was scaled back by several fold, is located.
