Recently, polls and media commentators have suggested that Christianity’s decline has leveled off and is even starting to rebound, sparking media dialogue around Easter Weekend.

From the Left: Helen Coffey of The Independent (Lean Left) highlighted a new study from the UK-based Bible Society that found the number of churchgoers aged 18 to 24 has quadrupled. Coffey particularly emphasized that Gen Z men are becoming more religious and said while there’s a growing sentiment the revival of Christianity among them is tied to “alt-right content creators” and “problematic narratives,” in her travels and reporting she’s experienced otherwise.

From the Right: The New York Post (Lean Right) profiled several American Millennials and elder Gen Z-ers who have converted to Catholicism from other denominations or faiths. The Post framed its report against findings from the National Catholic Register, which reported “year-over-year increases of 30% to 70% in new converts.”

From the Center: In an opinion for UnHerd (Center), Niall Gooch cited The Post’s coverage and other reports from the UK, arguing the Christian revival “isn’t surprising.” Gooch said a revival among younger generations “may be because they have grown weary of the extremely rigorist morality that dominates the contemporary world, and are seeking an alternative.” He noted the intense “activism” of “modern secular morality” that includes “cancel culture” and climate activism as “impersonal” and inhumane, with “no clear pathway for restoration and forgiveness.”
