Outlets across the spectrum refuted and criticized a report from the New York Post (Lean Right bias) that claimed President Joe Biden “started to wander off” during an event at the G7 summit last week and had to be guided “back toward the group.”

For Context: At one point during the G7 summit, the leaders gathered outside and watched a skydiving demonstration. After the divers landed, Biden began to walk over to the divers, seemingly to congratulate them. At this point, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni approaches Biden and signals to him that the leaders were about to take a group photo. 

Details: In a video posted on the New York Post’s X (formerly Twitter) account, the video is slightly zoomed in, making the skydiver Biden is approaching not visible in frame. A community note on the post states that the video had been cropped, and a different user posted the uncropped version, showing Biden approaching a skydiver gathering his parachute. 

How the Media Covered It: Throughout Biden’s presidency, right-rated outlets have extensively reported on instances of Biden appearing aloof, with coverage frequently seeking to highlight Biden’s age and raise questions regarding his fitness and mental acuity. But in this instance, the New York Post faced pushback from outlets across the spectrum. A show on Fox News (Right bias) dedicated a segment to highlighting criticism of the Post’s story, with one commentator calling the report “irresponsible journalism at best, sloppy journalism at worst.”
