Twitter permanently suspended the personal account of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Sunday for "repeated violations" of the platform's "COVID-19 misleading information policy."

Greene's ban was prompted by a misleading graph she tweeted out on Saturday that falsely promoted "extremely high amounts of Covid vaccine deaths" in the U.S. The congresswoman posted her response to the ban on the social media site Telegram, where she called Twitter "an enemy to America." "Social media platforms can't stop the truth from being spread far and wide," Greene wrote. "Big Tech can't stop the truth. Communist Democrats can't stop the truth. I stand with the truth and the people. We will overcome!" Greene will still be allowed to post from her official Congressional page, @RepMTG, as it is not in violation of company policies. The Georgia Republican was temporarily suspended from Twitter four previous times for spreading false information. On the platform, she promoted other conspiracies related to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Sandy Hook shooting and the 2020 election. Her controversial social media activity also led to the House of Representatives voting to remove her from the Education and Budget committees back in February.

Greene's permanent ban was prominently covered by outlets across the spectrum. Left-rated outlets were more likely to link back to when former President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter last year. Many right-rated voices have accused Big Tech companies for intentionally censoring their viewpoints and favoring left-leaning ideologies.

Twitter has permanently suspended the personal account of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), saying Sunday that she repeatedly violated the company’s covid-19 misinformation policy.

The suspension came hours after she published a tweet falsely suggesting “extremely high amounts of Covid vaccine deaths.” Included was a chart featuring data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, which provides self-reported information that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns does not imply causation.

Twitter permanently booted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from the social-media platform Sunday, saying she had repeatedly violated its policies by posting misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic.

The Georgia Republican’s personal account “@mtgreenee” was permanently blocked, although her congressional account “@RepMTG” is still online.

Twitter has permanently suspended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's personal account for spreading COVID-19 misinformation.

"We permanently suspended Marjorie Taylor Greene for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy," Twitter said in a statement, as first reported by CNN's Donie O'Sullivan. "We've been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy."
