The January 6 Committee investigating the Capitol Riot is discussing whether it will call on former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence to interview with the committee, a Republican member of the committee said.

Republican Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger told The Wall Street Journal on Thursday that if the panel decides it wishes to speak with Pence, it may issue a subpoena to compel him to testify. The committee will discuss whether to interview Pence during a meeting Thursday, Kinzinger said.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, one of two GOP members of the House select committee investigating January 6, told the Wall Street Journal that the panel is considering asking former President Donald Trump to testify and may request a written interview with former Vice President Mike Pence or issue a subpoena for him to testify.

The House Select Committee investigating the events of January 6, 2021 may soon seek testimony from former Vice President Mike Pence, according to Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger.

Pence's potential testimony could shed light on issues surrounding the former vice president's interaction with the Secret Service during the Capitol riot and in particular suggestions that Pence believed there was a coup attempt.

The House of Representatives on Friday passed two measures to restore abortion rights after the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade.

The action comes as Democrats ramp up their political messaging on abortion ahead of the November midterm elections, hoping the issue will drive voters to the ballot box to preserve the party's majorities in Congress.

The House on Friday again passed the Women’s Health Protection Act, a sweeping abortion rights bill that has already been passed by the chamber this Congress. It goes on to face dim prospects in the Senate.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi touted the House’s second passage of the same bill this Congress and argued the matter is an election issue to pass the bill in the Senate.

The House on Friday passed two bills aimed at protecting access to abortion, marking the chamber’s first legislative attempts at safeguarding the procedure after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last month.

The first bill — the Women’s Health Protection Act — passed in a 219-210 vote, clearing the House for a second time in the past year. The lower chamber previously approved the measure in September, but it was twice blocked in the Senate.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Wednesday criticized comments that Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) made on Sunday in which she called for ending the separation of church and state in the United States.

Boebert said in a speech at the Cornerstone Christian Center in Basalt, Colo., that she is “tired” of the principle and falsely claimed that the Founding Fathers did not intend to keep religion separate from government. 

The committee has revealed that a White House lawyer told Jeffrey Clark, a Justice Department lawyer pushing a Trump-backed plan to subvert the election results, that he would be committing a felony if he helped to overturn the election.

The Jan. 6 Select Committee is set to hold its fifth public hearing Tuesday. The hearing will focus on former President Trump allegedly pressuring the U.S. Department of Justice to say there was fraud in the 2020 election. The hearing will be led by Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger.

Justice Department officials’ unwavering resistance to former President Trump’s attempts to use their agency to legitimize his bid to remain in office will be the focus of Thursday’s hearing from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

“In the remaining weeks of the transition, President Trump tried to pressure the Department of Justice and help him overturn the 2020 election,” a select committee aide told reporters Wednesday.
