U.S. airstrikes over the weekend took out Houthi drone, missile and air defense systems, but it remains to be seen whether they struck a lethal blow at their main target: the Iranian regime’s resolve. 

President Trump warns that he will hold Iran responsible for any further attacks by Houthi militants on vessels in the Red Sea area. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran is dictating every move of the Houthis, giving them weapons, money and intelligence.

Israeli strikes on the southern Gaza city of Rafah overnight killed 22 people, including 18 children, health officials said Sunday, as the United States was on track to approve billions of dollars of additional military aid to Israel, its close ally.

Israel has carried out near-daily air raids on Rafah, where more than half of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million has sought refuge from fighting elsewhere. It has also vowed to expand its ground offensive to the city on the border with Egypt despite international calls for restraint, including from the U.S.

Four people including a three-year-old child were killed and eight others wounded when a Russian drone hit an apartment block in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Saturday, authorities said.

At the scene, smoke poured from rubble strewn across the ground where the drone had ripped a several-storey sized chunk out of the building.

Clothes and furniture could be seen among the ruined mass of concrete and steel hanging off the side of the ruined apartment block.

The Iraqi government has strongly condemned US strikes which targeted sites used by Iranian-backed groups in Iraq on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said they "blatantly" violated his country's sovereignty.

The US said its "proportionate" attacks had targeted "Iran-affiliated groups".

The paramilitary Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) said the "treacherous" US action killed one of their fighters.
