A bipartisan group of influential senators is calling on the Biden administration to investigate Formula 1 over its decision to reject Andretti Global from racing on the grid in the coming years, suggesting the sport may be violating American antitrust law as it grows its U.S. fan base.

They made the request in a letter sent Tuesday and viewed by NBC News, which was led by Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., the chair of the Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust, and joined by the panel’s ranking member, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.

House File 1989 requires sellers to disclose the TOTAL cost of a ticket, and prohibits the practice of hiring people to stand in line to purchase tickets for resale. Gov. Tim Walz put pen to paper within the hallowed confines of First...

ANDOVER, Mass.—The stagnation and disinclination to experiment that many critics believe is rife in higher education may loom over some gatherings of campus leaders. The College-in-3 event here this week wasn’t among them. Several dozen college administrators, faculty leaders, accreditors and others gathered at Merrimack College to share progress reports on, and commiserate about, common roadblocks in their efforts to create three-year bachelor’s degrees.

Months after holding a hearing critical of Live Nation and Ticketmaster in the Judiciary Committee, the Senate is taking action against the ticketing giant. Senators Amy Klobuchar, who co-organized that January hearing, and Richard Blumenthal, a key critic, introduced the Unlock Ticketing Markets Act on April 26, which specifically takes aim at the controversial multi-year exclusivity contracts that Ticketmaster often uses with venues.

Swifties, the BeyHive and Cure fans may have a reason to rejoice: Senators on Wednesday are set to introduce a bipartisan bill targeting hidden ticket fees for live events.

Dubbed the Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act, the measure would require ticketing merchants to disclose upfront full ticket prices, including fees, for concerts, sporting events and other large gatherings.

It's not fair to consumers to get charged high add-on fees for tickets to sporting events or concerts, let alone deal with the frustration of buying tickets online, Sen. Ted Cruz tells Newsmax, and he's fighting back with legislation called the Ticket Act.

"I've teamed up with Maria Cantwell, who is the Democrat from Washington state. She's the chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee. I'm the ranking member, the senior Republican on the Commerce Committee," the Texas Republican explained on Newsmax's "Wake Up America."

Senators tore into Ticketmaster owner LiveNation on Tuesday, accusing it of unfair practices that caused heartache for Taylor Swift fans who were denied tickets to the pop star’s Eras tour last fall.

In its first hearing of the new Congress, the Senate Judiciary Committee scrutinized Ticketmaster’s 2010 merger with LiveNation, which witnesses said created a monopoly resulting in unfairly high prices for concert-goers.

Live Nation Entertainment, the parent company of concert and ticketing giants Live Nation and Ticketmaster, has been attracting more heat from politicians in recent weeks. On Thursday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) sent a letter addressed to the company’s CEO Michael Rapino on Thursday morning, expressing her concern over what she called a lack of competition in the live music industry.
