Asian Americans overwhelmingly support teaching historical topics like slavery, racism, and segregation in public schools but strongly oppose colleges using race and ethnicity in admissions, according to a new survey.

Why it matters: This data is a rare look at the nuances Asian Americans have around race and education four years after the pandemic, when the nation saw surges in anti-Asian hate and a racial awakening sparked by the murder of George Floyd.

Asian Americans have the highest exposure to PFAS, aka “forever chemicals,” than any other US racial demographic, a new study finds.

The research, which uses exposures to estimate levels of the chemicals in people’s systems, shows that Asian Americans likely have 88% higher levels of PFAS than non-Hispanic Whites.

Individuals who live in households with high income brackets tend to have higher risks of exposure to PFAS than others, the study finds.

A group of Chinese Floridians and a real estate brokerage firm are suing the state in federal court over a recently-signed Gov. Ron DeSantis policy they say puts “draconian restrictions” on people from China.

"The legislation unfairly restricts most Chinese citizens — and most citizens of Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Russia, and North Korea — from purchasing homes in the state," they said in a press release posted by the American Civil Liberties Union, one of their legal representatives.

A mid-January Twitter post by Gov. Greg Abbott alerted Chinese Americans across Texas that their rights might be trampled as state lawmakers rushed to burnish their geopolitical credentials.

On Jan. 15, the Republican governor told his 1 million followers he was ready to sign into law a proposed bill that would ban “citizens, governments & entities” of China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from purchasing land in the state, in effect blocking some immigrants from becoming homeowners.
