Donald Trump's running mate for the presidential election will likely be male, according to booking odds, which may come as a surprise following predictions that he will choose a woman.

The former president and GOP 2024 presumptive nominee is yet to publicly announce who he will choose as his running mate in the presidential election but speculation has increased over the last few weeks and months about who it could be.

Former President Donald Trump has narrowed down his vice presidential short list to seven candidates, or so it seems based on who reportedly received vetting materials from the campaign.

Trump is unpredictable and his pick of former Vice President Mike Pence was largely kept under wraps before the announcement. But there are some useful insights to be gleaned from the reported veepstakes semifinalists.

Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson told Newsmax on Tuesday that "hatred" is "the biggest threat to the viability of our nation."

Carson told "National Report" that "America has certain values that were essential to its establishment. Things like our faith. Things like liberty and community, working together, our respect for life. And those are the kinds of things that we must be willing to stand up for, as those things are moving away from us."

Dr. Ben Carson told Newsmax on Monday that the COVID-19 pandemic has been the "best mechanism government has had for controlling the people ever" and that it's contrary to the founding principles of America.

Referring to Alexis de Tocqueville’s study of America in the 1830’s, Dr. Carson notes the great role of churches in helping Americans establish a sense of morality and duty. He says it is not simply a religious structure which provided those ideals. “It is a true belief in the power of God and the power of good. The power of God gives us the ability to do that which is good, both individually and as a nation.”
