Hundreds of teens took over Chicago's Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park this past weekend, with videos showing crowds stomping and dancing on parked cars downtown.

Driving the news: Police are also investigating after two teens were shot in the Loop on Saturday night. They're both in fair condition. No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, as of late Sunday.

Within seconds of stepping onstage to declare his triumph in the Chicago mayoral race, Brandon Johnson extended an olive branch.

After briefly marveling at his improbable political rise, the newly minted mayor-elect said his first order of business was delivering a message to those who’d voted for his opponent, Paul Vallas.

“I want to work with you, and I’ll be the mayor for you too,” Johnson said, after the audience’s light grumbling over the mention of his rival.

Progressive activist and teachers-union lobbyist Brandon Johnson defeated Paul Vallas on Tuesday to become the next mayor of Chicago—a result conservatives say will be even worse for the city than Lori Lightfoot.

The race was called late Tuesday evening, showing Johnson won with 51.4 percent of the vote to Vallas’ 48.6 percent of the vote.

“You know, they said this would never happen,” Johnson said in a victory speech.
