A white supremacist who killed 10 Black people at a Buffalo supermarket was sentenced to life in prison without parole Wednesday after relatives of his victims confronted him with pain and rage caused by his racist attack.

Anger briefly turned physical at Payton Gendron’s sentencing when a man in the audience rushed at him. The man was quickly restrained; prosecutors later said he wouldn’t be charged. The proceeding then resumed with more emotional outpouring from people who lost loved ones or were themselves wounded in the attack.

An impassioned victim impact statement from the sister of one of the victims of the Buffalo supermarket shooting was interrupted when an unknown person lunged at the teenage shooter, disrupting the courtroom, before the killer was handed 10 life sentences — one for each victim.

“You killed my sister,” Barbara Mapps told Payton Gendron, 19, at the latter’s sentencing at Erie County Court on Wednesday morning.

Judge Susan Eagan said the sentences would run concurrently, according to News4Buffalo.

A white gunman who targeted a grocery in Buffalo, New York, because it was the city with the most Black residents in closest proximity to his home, will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to murder and hate crime charges in the May 14 shooting at Tops Friendly Market.

Thirteen people, including 11 Black people and two white people, were shot in the massacre, which the suspect had streamed on the social media platform Twitch.

A white gunman who shot and killed 10 people in a racially motivated attack in Buffalo, New York has pleaded guilty to murder and terrorism charges.

The plea means he will be sentenced to life in prison without parole. New York does not have the death penalty.

The 19-year-old killer initially pleaded not guilty to the state charges in June.

"I understand this is a momentous and tremendously emotional event," Judge Susan Eagan said in court on Monday.

The gunman who killed 10 people and wounded three others in a racist mass shooting at a Buffalo, New York, supermarket last May has pleaded guilty to all state charges brought against him, including multiple counts of murder in the first degree and one count of domestic terrorism motivated by hate. The guilty plea means he will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, his defense attorneys announced on Monday.
