If you think your energy bill is already high, brace yourself. Labour may have promised a Net Zero electricity system that would cut average bills by Ā£300 — but as new research reveals, the opposite is going to happen. We can expect the cost of electricity to increase by at least 75%.

California’s firefighting agency did not reject firetrucks sent from Oregon to help with the Los Angeles fires, contrary to online posts saying the vehicles were not deployed because they didn’t meet California’s strict emissions standards.

No out-of-state vehicles have been turned away, California and Oregon fire officials told Reuters.

The White House on Thursday announced a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 61% to 66% below 2005 levels in the next decade. The incoming Trump administration isn’t likely to honor the commitment.

ā€œThe Biden Administration may be about to leave office, but we’re confident in America’s ability to rally around this goal,ā€ John Podesta, senior adviser to the president for international climate policy, said in a call with reporters.

In the final days of his administration, President Biden has set a new climate goal for slashing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. However, it comes as his successor, President-elect Donald Trump, has signaled he is not interested in global climate negotiations.

The U.S. formally submitted its new goal Thursday to the United Nations. It calls for a 61% to 66% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 compared to 2005 levels, the White House said, with an overarching goal of achieving net zero emissions by no later than 2050.

President Biden announced an audacious goal for America to reduce its carbon emissions by two thirds with barely weeks left in his administration.Biden's White House announced the new goal in a public statement. It calls for the U.S. to massively reduce its carbon emissions by 2035, invoking the Paris Agreement."Today, as the United States continues to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy, President Biden is announcing a new climate target for the United States: a 61-66 percent reduction in 2035 from 2005 levels in economy-wide net greenhouse gas...

Lufthansa will add a surcharge up to Ā£61 per flight to cover the costs of using greener fuels from next year, the German airline has said.

The charges will affect flights from the European Union, the UK, Switzerland and Norway, and start from about 85p, depending on the route, the carrier said.

Under EU rules, airlines must use a blend of at least 2 per cent of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from 2025, rising steadily to 70 per cent by 2050.

The world's fossil fuel industries should be banned from advertising to help save the world from climate change, the head of the United Nations said on Wednesday.

UN Secretary General António Guterres called coal, oil and gas corporations the ā€œgodfathers of climate chaosā€ who had distorted the truth and deceived the public for decades.

Just as tobacco advertising was banned because of the threat to health, the same should now apply to fossil fuels, he said.

A longstanding emissions reduction program may lead to a 50-cent increase in gasoline prices within two years in California, according to a little-known state air quality regulator report.

In September, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the state's primary environmental regulator, reported gas prices will rise next year by about 50 cents a gallon and every year thereafter to aid in clean air efforts. The price increase does not include the existing gas tax in the state.
