Most Americans in a new survey said they support the Biden administration hiring more border patrol agents and immigration judges as migrant surges persist at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Associated Press-NORC Center survey, released Friday, found that the majority of the public agrees with policy ideas related to immigration and security at the southern border, as legislation regarding the issue is currently stalled in the divided Congress.

The drowning deaths of a woman and two children from Mexico near the US-Mexico border have magnified the rift between Texas and federal officials over who has jurisdiction in that part of the Rio Grande area and how to grapple with the migrant crisis.

The tragedy happened days after state authorities blocked the US Border Patrol from accessing miles of the US-Mexico border near Eagle Pass, Texas, which was recently the epicenter of the migrant crisis, officials said. But whether a lack of access may have played a role in the deaths is in dispute.

Customs and Border Patrol issued a memo on Wednesday warning agents to be on alert for illegal immigrants carrying explosives after ten improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found near the border.

Agents were advised to “exercise extreme caution and should report any possible armed subjects approaching the border with possible explosive devices” in a memo first obtained by Fox Business.

The IEDs were discovered after agents stationed at a Tuscon border post exchanged fire with cartel members near a local ranch.

Nearly $3.5 million in drugs were seized by the United States Border Patrol in three days, according to the agency.

The following were among the confiscated substances:

603 lbs. of marijuana

269 lbs. of meth

194 lbs. of cocaine

52 lbs. of fentanyl

The United States-Mexico border continued its spiral into lawlessness in the last month, with border encounters still reaching astronomical numbers unseen until President Biden took office.

In Arizona specifically, the Tucson Sector Border Patrol apprehended 58,000 illegal immigrants in a span of 28 days. Numbers continued to pile on to what was an unfortunately busy October 2023 for the region, which saw 55,224 migrants, according to Breitbart.

A deadly explosion near the New York-Canadian border after a car went airborne has been referred to Niagara Falls police as a traffic investigation after no explosives or connection to terrorism were found, the FBI said Wednesday night.

Two people in the car were killed in the fiery incident on the Rainbow Bridge, which leads into and out of Canada at Niagara Falls, that occurred minutes before 11:30 a.m., officials said.

A speeding car crashed in flames on the bridge linking New York state and Ontario at Niagara Falls on Wednesday, killing two people in the vehicle and sparking a security scare that closed four U.S.-Canadian border crossings.

Hours later, federal and state authorities said investigators had found no evidence of an act of terrorism, though circumstances surrounding the crash on the Rainbow Bridge remained murky, leaving it to be determined whether it was accidental or intentional.

The vehicle explosion that occurred near a U.S.-Canada border crossing Thursday afternoon is not believed to be the result of terrorism, New York governor Kathy Hochul said early Wednesday evening.

Two passengers are reported dead after a vehicle exploded near the Rainbow Bridge border crossing separating the United States from Canada. A border agent was also reportedly injured in the attack.

One of two international bridges remained closed to traffic for the second day on Thursday, creating long lines at the other bridge and frustrating residents who were surprised that an emergency declaration was issued in this border town.

Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas on Wednesday night issued an emergency declaration he said due to the thousands of asylum-seekers who are streaming across the Rio Grande from Piedras Negras, Mexico.
