As spring breakers this season continue to head south into warmer territory, mosquitoes are posing a health risk that calls for extra attention. Global cases of dengue fever are on the rise, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — and it's warning of an uptick in U.S. travelers. The agency released a Health Alert Network advisory on March 18 noting that dengue activity and transmission "remain high" in some parts of the U.S. and globally, including the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands....

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday reported that the official measles case count nationwide is 378. The majority of the cases are in Texas, where the initial U.S. outbreak was discovered. Two cases were reported there in late January. Those were identified in Gaines County, about 70 miles southwest of Lubbock. Texas Health and Human Services officials said all but two of the 309 identified measles cases in the state so far involved residents who were not vaccinated, or their vaccination status could not be confirmed....

CDC Warns About Elevated Risk Of Dengue Fever Authored by Jack Phillips via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday sent an alert to health officials and providers about relatively elevated levels of dengue fever cases. Dengue fever cases have been rising among U.S. travelers and are expected to climb this year, according to a warning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A “record number” of dengue fever cases were identified among U.S. travelers last year — a total of 3,484, an 84 percent increase compared to the year before. “This trend is expected to continue with increased dengue activity in endemic areas in 2025,” the warning from the CDC reads. Dengue activity remains high in some parts of the United States and...

That Kennedy has repeatedly echoed the rhetoric of the anti-vaccine movement while Weldon was seen as not fit to helm the agency that fights infectious diseases has medical experts and politicians questioning who will be chosen as the CDC’s next leader amid a surge in measles cases and ongoing outbreaks of bird flu in the United States and Ebola in Uganda. The move to abandon Weldon’s nomination comes amid public concerns over the resurgence of vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. The Trump administration canceled a planned meeting of the Food and Drug...

A month ago, a COVID-positive patient was admitted to a Skilled Nursing Facility. which immediately adopted stringent COVID protocols, insisting that both staff and visitors wear masks at all times (not that either group wore them very carefully in the halls and at the main desk; everyone is burned out of masks), and that the doors to all the rooms in the ward be kept closed other than for entry and exit. A short time later my mother (whose room was nowhere near that of the COVID patient) caught COVID...

Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said on Newsmax Saturday that COVID-19 resulted from U.S.-funded gain-of-function research rather than a natural spillover event. Redfield, now a senior fellow for biosecurity and public health policy at the Heritage Foundation, discussed disagreements within the White House COVID-19 task force on “Saturday Agenda,” reiterating his long-held belief about the virus’s origins.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is pushing alternative measles treatments as the United States endures its worst outbreak since 2019. The Centers for Disease Control published figures indicating the U.S. has seen at least 308 measles cases this year, with the majority in New Mexico and Texas. The total as of March is higher than the entirety of last year, which ended with 285 infections. World health experts are pushing to raise vaccination rates to combat the virus, while Kennedy advocates for better diets, fish oil,...
