President Donald Trump told El Salvador President Nayib Bukele that “homegrown” criminals are next on the list of people he plans to deport to the country’s supermax prison.

President Trump floated sending American citizens to Salvadoran prisons during a conversation with the Central American country’s leader on Monday — suggesting he build “five more” facilities to make room.

“Home-growns are next. The home-growns. You gotta build about five more places,” Trump told President Nayib Bukele in the Oval Office, prompting laughter from administration officials seated nearby.

University officials said they had not yet been formally notified, but the school was among dozens warned last month that enforcement actions could be coming as the administration seeks to crack down on academic institutions .

The Trump administration announced Monday it will “review” nearly $9 billion of federal funding for Harvard University and its affiliates, such as area hospitals, in an effort to “root out antisemitism,” according to the government’s antisemitism task force.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on March 27 directing the removal of what he deemed “improper, divisive, or anti-American ideology” from facilities operated by the Smithsonian Institution.

The order states that Vice President JD Vance, who is a member of the Smithsonian Board of Regents, will oversee the removal of such ideology from the institute’s museums, research centers, and the National Zoo.
