President Joe Biden told Morehouse College's graduating class of 2024 that he's committed to serving Black voters while defending freedom and democracy in the face of "extremist forces" that he says threaten the soul of the nation.

With just six months until the general election, the speech, which was filled with religious themes of struggle and resilience, also served as a continuation of Biden's warning to his supporters of what he thinks the country would look like if Donald Trump is elected again.

Multiple students at Morehouse College turned their backs on President Biden during his commencement address in Atlanta Sunday — as support for the 81-year-old commander-in-chief among black voters plunges.

Biden’s speech at the historic black, all-male college marked the first time he has set foot on campus since mass anti-Israel protests erupted at schools across the country.

“I support peaceful nonviolent protest,” he told the graduates, as several turned around to face away from the president.

President Biden will set foot on a college campus Sunday for the first time since universities around the country became hotbeds for protests over the Israel-Hamas war.

Biden is delivering a commencement speech at Morehouse College, an historically Black college in Atlanta, a move that roiled students and faculty of the school, whose president said he would end the ceremony before letting police intervene to stop any potentially disruptive behavior.

Morehouse College is praising its students and faculty after at least seven graduates and one faculty member sat with their backs turned to President Biden as he delivered his commencement address at the Atlanta school earlier Sunday.

Morehouse said "peaceful assembly is core" to the school’s "social justice tradition," and its administration "fully supports and defends the right to peacefully protest and the expression of one’s views openly." 

Harvard College is struggling to find a speaker for “Class Day” at its graduation later this month, with ten invited speakers already having turned down the slot, partly due to ongoing protests and antisemitism at the elite campus.

More than 10 people have declined offers to serve as the keynote speaker for Harvard College’s annual Class Day, leaving the Harvard Alumni Association scrambling to find a speaker with less than two weeks until the ceremony for undergraduate seniors.

In a continuation of the campus anti-Israel histrionics observed across the country during the past month, some Duke University students decided to walk out of their graduation ceremony when Jewish comedian Jerry Seinfeld was introduced to give the commencement speech. They earned each and every boo directed at them (boos that NBC News incorrectly reports were aimed at Seinfeld rather than the attention-seeking keffiyeh kids).

Jerry Seinfeld was the commencement speaker for Duke University’s graduating 2024 class. It should have gone off without any drama, but in the era of perpetual left-wing victimhood, that was not the case. If it weren’t the war in Gaza, it would have been something else. Alas, at least 30 students staged a mini-pro-Hamas rebellion against the comedian. They walked out, but it was a minor hiccup. Over two dozen students might have left, but there were around 6,000 in the class (via Politico): 

Commencement ceremonies are underway at the nation’s Catholic colleges and universities, many of which are annually highlighted in the National Catholic Register’s “Catholic Identity College Guide.”

Notable speakers include Cardinal Stephen Chow at Boston College on May 20 and “The Bible in a Year” and “The Catechism in a Year” podcast host Father Mike Schmitz, who serves as chaplain at the University of Minnesota-Duluth’s Newman Center and who spoke to Ave Maria University’s Class of 2024 on May 4.
