President Trump marked his month in office with a rousing speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference that was part stand-up routine, part policy speech and all victory lap.

Greeted with a thunderous standing ovation, Mr. Trump took the stage and was frequently interrupted with applause and cheers from the friendly crowd.

President Donald Trump’s tremendous start in sealing the U.S. border and deporting illegal migrants can be a springboard for a global initiative to mobilize like-minded world leaders to do the same. Now is the time for the State Department to convoke a worldwide summit of national leaders, officials, organizations, and citizens who are aligned with Trump to coordinate the international fight against illegal immigration.

Donning his "Dark Gothic MAGA" hat, a black coat and sunglasses, and wielding a chainsaw, Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief Elon Musk made a surprise appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Thursday evening.

Musk spoke on a wide range of topics, including the latest DOGE updates, the Democratic and media hatred towards him and the importance of reducing waste and abuse in the federal government.

In the spoils, the Trumpian nationalists, the tech wizards, and the fiscal conservatives are united for a common project.

One of the more surprising developments in the first weeks of Donald Trump’s administration is the revival of an aggressive conservative instinct to shrink the government, to reduce not only the scope of federal authority in national and global affairs but to literally just shrink it by reducing the number of people employed by the government.

President Donald Trump says he wants a deal, not a war, with Tehran. ā€œI would much prefer a Verified Nuclear Peace Agreement, which will let Iran peacefully grow and prosper,ā€ he wrote last week on Truth Social. He had better act fast. Negotiating an accord that constrains Iran’s nuclear energy program will take time. The one that President Barack Obama got took 20 months to negotiate, and forces opposing diplomacy may grow stronger in the months and years ahead. Meanwhile, Trump’s own position likely will diminish. Second-term presidents quickly learn...

The Trump administration announced on Monday an expansion of tariffs, raising levies on aluminum imports from 10 percent to 25 percent while maintaining the 25 percent tariff on steel. The move also reintroduces tariffs on certain allies that had previously negotiated exemptions or quota-based agreements, with no exceptions outlined in the new policy. The decision is intended to bolster domestic metal industries in accordance with the administration’s commitment to supporting American manufacturers.

An Elon Musk-led group of investors Monday signaled its intent to wrest control of ChatGPT-maker Open AI. The consortium made an unsolicited offer of $97.4 billion to buy the nonprofit company and possibly merge it with Musk’s AI company xAI who are backing the bid. ā€œIt’s time for OpenAI to return to the open-source, safety-focused force for good it once was,ā€ Musk’s attorney Marc Toberoff told the Wall Street Journal on Monday. ā€œWe will make sure that happens.ā€ Musk has routinely butted heads with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman after Musk...

President Donald Trump said Sunday he expects to cut billions from the Defense Department budget. Trump said that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency would soon lead an audit of the Pentagon and ā€œfind billions, hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse.ā€ The Department of Education will be another one of Musk’s targets, Trump said. ā€œI’m going to tell him very soon, like maybe in 24 hours, to go check the Department of Education.ā€ Trump’s comments came during a pre-Super Bowl interview with Bret Baier of Fox News....

A majority of U.S. adults—53 percent—approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing in his first month back in the White House, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll published Sunday. That figure marks an improvement over Trump’s approval ratings at this point in his first term, when Gallup found that 41 percent approved of his performance. By January 2021, as Trump’s first term was ending, his approval had dropped to 34 percent, according to the same pollster. The CBS News poll, conducted Wednesday through Friday last week, found that...

Dropping bombshells is always better than dropping literal bombs. But President Donald Trump’s pronouncement that ā€œthe U.S. will take over the Gaza Stripā€ may be too close for comfort. Standing next to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump laid out his new plan to take possession of the 140-square-mile strip of land, clear out the tens of millions of tons of debris caused by the 15-month Israel–Hamas war, and economically develop it through nation-building. ā€œWe’ll own it. And be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded bombs and other...
