Republicans should rally behind the proposed ‘Keep Nine’ Amendment to limit the number of SCOTUS justices. Most voters support it.

In response to grassroots pressure, the newly released 2024 National Republican Platform takes a strong stand against threats by Democrats to pack the Supreme Court.

“We will maintain the Supreme Court as it was always meant to be at 9 Justices. We will not allow the Democrat Party to increase this number. . . . We will block them at every turn,” the platform states.

Senate Democrats say discussions about reforming the Supreme Court are picking up steam in the wake of decisions striking down Roe v. Wade and limiting the EPA’s ability to regulate climate-warming emissions.   

But the talk is being fueled by progressive senators while vulnerable Democratic incumbents, fearing backlash, are keeping their distance.

Some Democrats favor expanding the number of seats in the court to restore what many Americans say is a loss of legitimacy. Although the court currently has a conservative majority of 6-3, President Joe Biden has said that he doesn't support the expansion of the number of judges.

From overturning Roe v. Wade to supporting the Second Amendment and maintaining religious liberty, the Supreme Court’s recent decisions have put the left in a sour mood.

The left certainly hasn’t taken the news well.

Despite the left’s obsession with the notion that the right is all about “undermining democracy,” the left has shown little trepidation in demanding we lay waste to republican institutions that stand in opposition to its agenda.

When the US supreme court this week radically expanded the second amendment and declared most any restrictions on guns to be presumptively unconstitutional, then overturned five decades of reproductive rights and created a likely desert for abortion access all the way from Idaho to Florida, America’s grim new reality became painfully clear.

Americans in Harvard Square shared their thoughts on whether the Supreme Court needed additional justices after Sen. Elizabeth Warren called for packing the high court in response to the leaked draft decision that indicated Roe v. Wade would be overturned.

"If they can stop what’s about to happen, yes," one man, Max, told Fox News. "Pack the courts as much as you need to to stop this overturning."

Warren joined her fellow Democrats in renewed calls to pack the Supreme Court following the leaked draft.

Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson refused Tuesday to weigh in on whether there should be more than nine justices on the high court, a move progressive activists have advocated for in recent years.

“My North Star is the consideration of the proper role of a judge in our constitutional scheme, and in my view, judges should not be speaking into political issues and certainly not a nominee for a position on the Supreme Court,” the nominee told the Senate Judiciary Committee. 

A commission formed by President Biden to study potential changes to the Supreme Court expressed concerns over calls to expand the size of the court, with some members warning it would “undermine, rather than enhance” its legitimacy.

Documents released Thursday outlined a range of options that the 36-member panel prepared to discuss at a public meeting Friday. The commission is expected to issue a final report in mid-November amid calls by progressives in the Democratic Party to expand the number of seats, a measure Republicans oppose.

Democratic lawmakers on Friday trashed a draft report released by President Joe Biden’s recently formed Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court, saying its findings fall short of the kinds of reforms needed to restore integrity to the court.

“This report is a disappointment to anyone who’d hoped for a hard-hitting effort to address the Supreme Court’s deep troubles,” said Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.).
