Former Republican Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has lost her defamation suit retrial against the New York Times.

The federal jury ruled after just two hours of deliberation on Tuesday that the New York Times was not guilty of libel when it falsely linked her to a 2011 mass shooting in an editorial it published in 2017. Per Axios:

Throughout this trial and the original 2022 trial, the Times asserted that the inaccurate link made in the editorial was a mistake.

AU.S. Navy veteran who was awarded $5 million in a defamation case against CNN filed a lawsuit against the Associated Press on Friday.

A Florida jury ruled in favor of Zachary Young in January. The veteran sued the network over a 2021 segment aired on The Lead with Jake Tapper. The story centered around allegations of profiteering in the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, specifically focusing on organizations that charged high prices for evacuations.

ABC News host George Stephanopoulos ignored the news about his network’s massive settlement with President-elect Donald Trump on his Sunday show. 

Fox News Digital first reported on Saturday that ABC News and Stephanopoulos agreed to a settlement to avoid a costly trial over Trump’s defamation lawsuit against the network and anchor.

News of the settlement, however, failed to appear on ABC’s "This Week." Instead, Stephanopoulos focused on stories about unidentified drones over New Jersey, ongoing conflicts in Syria and Trump’s cabinet picks.

ABC News and its top anchor George Stephanopoulos have reached a settlement with Donald Trump in his defamation suit, which will result in the news network paying the president-elect $15 million. 

ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos agreed to settle a defamation suit brought by President-elect Trump by issuing a public apology and providing $15 million to fund Trump’s future presidential library, according to court documents filed Saturday. 

The settlement enables both the anchor and Trump to avoid sitting for court-ordered depositions next week. 

ABC News will pay $15 million to a “presidential foundation and museum” in a settlement reached with President-elect Donald Trump in his defamation suit against the network and anchor George Stephanopoulos.

The settlement, which was filed publicly Saturday, reveals the network will also pay $1 million in Trump’s attorneys’ fees and will issue an apology.

Former President Donald Trump celebrated a significant legal victory Wednesday, July 24, when a Florida judge refused to dismiss his defamation lawsuit against ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos. The lawsuit originated from an interview with GOP Rep. Nancy Mace, during which Stephanopoulos repeatedly claimed Trump was liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll.

CNN presidential debate moderator Jake Tapper’s show is at the center of a defamation suit brought by a consulting company which alleges that the network and one of its reporters lied about the company’s work.

The network’s defense: CNN did not intend to harm and its language was “opinion or ambiguous.”
