Virginia state officials agreed to settle a lawsuit with a Christian wedding photographer after he refused to use his business to celebrate same-sex marriage, according to a press release.

California's Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed a bill banning caste discrimination.

Advocates had argued the bill would protect people of South Asian descent who had been treated unfairly.

Mr Newsom said the state already banned discrimination based on religion, origin and other characteristics.

"Because discrimination based on caste is already prohibited under these existing categories, this bill is unnecessary," he said in a statement.

A conservative legal group on Wednesday urged a U.S. anti-discrimination agency to investigate Kellogg Co (K.N) over workplace diversity policies that it says are unlawful, and accused the cereal maker of sexualizing its products.

New York City now has a new protected group of people after Mayor Eric Adams’ decision to sign a controversial anti-discrimination law. 

According to the measure, which takes effect Nov. 2, employers and landlords in the city cannot discriminate against someone because of their height or weight for jobs or housing.

That means fat people have been added to the list of protected classes already on the books, such as race, sex, and religion.

Democratic Mayor Eric Adams has banned weight discrimination in New York City, which critics say has lawyers licking their chops.

Adams signed a controversial bill Friday outlawing discrimination based on a person's weight and height in employment, housing and public accommodations. 

"I'm a person that believes in health, so when you talk about not discriminating against someone because of their body type, it's not fighting against obesity; it's just being fair," Adams said.

An advocacy is pressing the University of Minnesota's Office of Undergraduate Studies after the taxpayer-funded university program opened its paid undergraduate internship program application to only non-white applicants. 

The Equal Protection Project of the Legal Insurrection Foundation is calling for the University of Minnesota (UMN) to change its application process and open its summer internship programs to all students regardless of skin color.
