Party chair's statement 'was the kind of bad-faith response we've come to expect from leadership,' senators say Arizona Democratic Party chairman Robert Branscomb II accused his party's U.S. senators of trying to intimidate and coerce him, prompting sharp rebukes from state and federal officials and pointing to a deep rupture in the state party. Branscomb alleged in a Saturday morning email to party members that Arizona senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego, both Democrats, "threatened" and "intimidated" him after he appointed an executive director who is not their preferred choice....

Democratic National Committee Vice Chairman David Hogg is funding efforts to oust Democratic incumbents in primaries despite being part of party leadership. Hogg, a Democratic Party activist who gained prominence after the 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Florida, was elected to be a vice chairman of the DNC in February, but he is still powering forward with efforts from his other organization, Leaders We Deserve. The group is planning to intervene in Democratic primaries with $20 million aimed at electing younger politicians who will be more aggressive toward President Donald...

Just weeks into her appointment as interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Alina Habba said she has launched an investigation into the state’s top Democratic officials for not cooperating with federal officials on immigration enforcement. In an interview Thursday on Fox News, Habba said she told her office to investigate New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and Attorney General Matthew Platkin over a 2018 directive that prevents state officers from detaining individuals solely due to questions about their immigration or citizenship status or from participating in federal immigration operations.

Alina Habba, the acting U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, is opening an investigation into the state’s governor and attorney general for how they are handing the immigration issue. Habba talked about her investigation appeared on ā€œHannityā€ on Fox News Thursday. She singled out Gov. Phil Murphy and Attorney General Matt Platkinover for opposing President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement tactics, per Mediaite.

A group of Democratic-led states sued the Education Department Thursday in an effort to regain access to hundreds of millions of dollars in pandemic relief aid that the department abruptly cut off late last month. In a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, 16 Democratic attorneys general and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) argued the Education Department violated federal law by blocking access to the funds, which the department, under the Biden administration, previously said the states could access through March 2026. The funding was approved by...

Rep. JesĆŗs "Chuy" GarcĆa, D- Ill., appeared to dismiss illegal immigrants attacking and murdering Americans as simply "immigrants committing a few crimes" Wednesday. Garcia made his remarks at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement where he feigned surprise that Republicans were "scapegoat[ing] immigrants once again." "Republicans have lifted up some tragedies that involve immigrants committing a few crimes," Garcia said, claiming Republicans were being "dishonest and cruel." "This is the exception, not the rule," he added.

WASHINGTON -- In a major overhaul, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will lay off 10,000 workers and shut down entire agencies, including ones that oversee billions of dollars in funds for addiction services and community health centers across the country. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticized the department he oversees as an inefficient "sprawling bureaucracy" in a video announcing the restructuring Thursday. He faulted the department's 82,000...

Third Way, a center-left think tank, argued that President Trump needs to be criticized over one of his largest issues: the economy. ā€œAll presidents are vulnerable on the economy but none more so than Trump. He repeatedly pledged, ā€˜Starting the day I take the Oath of Office, I will rapidly drive prices down, and we will make America affordable again,ā€™ā€ the group said in a new report. ā€œVoters put up with his antics and the insults because they believed they were going to have someone at the top who understands...

California Rep. Maxine Waters said President Trump should think about deporting his foreign-born wife first lady Melania Trump during a rant about the president's immigration policies. Waters went after the first lady at a Los Angeles rally protesting DOGE cuts, where she referenced Trump's executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship, which confers citizenship status on people born here. 'If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania,' she said, personalizing...
