Yemen's Houthi rebels say there have been fresh US strikes against them, with the number of dead rising to 53, including five children.

Targets in the Al Jaouf and Hudaydah areas were hit early on Monday, according to the rebel group, while the US Central Command said its forces had continued operations.

The US launched what it called a "decisive and powerful" wave of air strikes on Houthi targets on Saturday as part of efforts to stop Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.

Ukraine launched its biggest drone attack on the Russian capital on Tuesday with at least 91 drones targeting Moscow, killing at least one person, sparking fires, closing airports and forcing dozens of flights to be diverted, Russian officials said.

A total of 337 Ukrainian drones were downed over Russia, including 91 over the Moscow region and 126 over the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have been pulling back, the defence ministry said.

Russia has carried out massive strikes across Ukraine, using drones and ballistic missiles, a day after the US stopped sharing intelligence with Kyiv that had previously given advance warnings of attacks.

The strikes came early on Friday as a Ukrainian delegation prepared to meet with US counterparts in Saudi Arabia for talks about a possible end to the war.

Iran had planned to use this week’s inauguration of its new president to show off its powerful collection of militias. Representatives of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Yemen’s Houthis and Lebanon’s Hezbollah all gathered in Tehran, where Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh hugged new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian amid chants of ā€œDeath to Israel.ā€

Israel’s military carried out what it described as a ā€œtargeted strikeā€ in Beirut on Tuesday, targeting the Hezbollah commander whom it said was responsible for the strike last weekend in the Golan Heights that killed a dozen children. ā€œThe IDF carried out a targeted strike in Beirut, on the commander responsible for the murder of the children in Majdal Shams and the killing of numerous additional Israeli civilians,ā€ the IDF said, though it did not mention whether the strike was successful and if there were any collateral casualties. Yoav Gallant,...

TEL AVIV—A drone strike caused an explosion in Tel Aviv, slipping through the country’s vaunted air defenses in the first such attack on Israel’s commercial capital since the war in Gaza began more than nine months ago.

The Israeli military said the blast was caused by a large uncrewed aerial vehicle that could travel long distances. It said it believes the device was launched by the Iran-aligned Houthi militant group from Yemen, roughly 1,250 miles away.
