House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's pledge to block Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff and "Squad" member Ilhan Omar from committees next Congress drew a strong response from the lawmakers.

Omar, a Minnesota Democrat who has been accused of making antisemitic statements, claimed that McCarthy's pledge was just another example of her being targeted by Republicans.

California Rep. Eric Swalwell published a homophobic voicemail he received Thursday that echoed accusations from Republican members like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene about his relationship with a Chinese spy, and threatened violence against Swalwell’s children.

Swalwell, who briefly ran for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president, was one of several politicians with whom suspected Chinese intelligence officer Fang Fang developed ties between 2011 and 2015, Axios reported in 2020.

A lawsuit against the men who spoke at a rally before the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 is putting the Justice Department in a tricky position.

The department is considering whether those federal officials acted within the scope of their jobs that day, which would trigger a form of legal immunity. Government watchdogs said the case has serious implications for who's held accountable for violence that delayed the election certification and contributed to the deaths of five people.

Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell called for ā€œa white nationalism task forceā€ at the Department of Justice Monday.

ā€œThey’re going to need, I believe, at the Department of Justice, a white nationalism task force to make sure that they’re understanding at the earliest of ages how people are being radicalized, if there are in fact training camps,ā€ Swalwell said on ā€œMSNBC Live With Katy Tur.ā€

A congressman who ran for president was compromised by a Chinese espionage operation. And yet, Eric Swalwell remains on the House Intelligence Committee without offering any real explanation of what happened, because ... well, it’s good to be a Democrat!

Swalwell had been close enough with a Chinese intelligence officer that she was able to place an intern in his office. Christine Fang (or Fang Fang) had been in contact with Swalwell as early as his days as a Dublin city councilman in 2012 and had fundraised for his reelection to Congress as late as 2014.

After spending months spilling ink to delegitimize stories implicating President-elect Joe Biden in his son’s corrupt overseas business dealings, the New York Times has found a new favorite Democrat to protect.

As of this writing Monday morning, the nation’s most influential newspaper — boasting more than 7 million subscribers — has yet to dedicate a single article or news item to the compromising revelations surrounding Democratic House Intelligence Committee member Eric Swalwell cultivating a relationship with a Chinese spy.

Leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives received an FBI briefing regarding Rep. Eric Swalwell's ties to a suspected Chinese spy, as a report of his association with the woman prompted Republicans to call for the California Democrat's removal from his position in the House Intelligence Committee.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy were briefed on Friday. McCarthy has said he requested the meeting.
