As the Trump administration intensifies its battle with elite universities, one Ivy League school is lawyering up with a Trump ally.

In the wake of the crises of the decade so far — the pandemic, extreme weather and natural disasters, among others — Americans have increasingly expressed their doubts about institutions, the government especially.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll found that the federal government as a whole acts as “government gangsters.”

Rasmussen Reports cited FBI Director Kash Patel’s book, entitled “Government Gangsters,” and asked voters: How much of the time do you believe the federal government acts as government gangsters?" 

Respondents said all of the time (17%), most of the time (24%) and some of the time (28%) for a subtotal of 69%. Rarely or never was 22% and not sure was 9%.

US government workers received an email on Saturday afternoon asking them to list their accomplishments from the past week or resign - the latest development in the Trump administration's efforts to scale back the federal workforce.

The email came after Trump's billionaire confidante Elon Musk posted on X that employees would "shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week".

While newly minted FBI Director Kash Patel exempted agency employees from the requirement (with much of the intelligence community reportedly set to get the same pass), there's a lot of upset feds out there.

Federal workers across the U.S. government received an email on Saturday afternoon asking them to account for what they did in the past week — and Elon Musk says they will be fired if they don't respond.

The emails arrived several hours after Musk, who is leading the Department of Government Efficiency team that has orchestrated the mass firings of at least 20,000 government workers over the past month, gave notice about the apparent ultimatum.

All federal employees will be asked to report the work they did over the past week or could resign, the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk said Saturday.

“Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” Musk wrote on X. “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”

Tech billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that all federal employees are being instructed to report their productivity in a new Trump administration initiative.

In a post Saturday on X, Musk said the report will come in the form of an email that will give federal workers a chance to report how productive they were the previous week.

If the email is ignored, Musk said, the federal government will interpret that as a resignation.

Newly sworn-in FBI Director Kash Patel has informed senior officials that he is planning to relocate up to 1,500 employees, according to a report published on Friday evening.

Under the plan, about 1,000 employees would move from Washington to FBI field offices around the nation while an additional 500 would be relocated to an FBI facility in Huntsville, Alabama, according to the Associated Press.
