In the landscape of American governance, the concept of federalism has always been the bedrock of our constitutional design. It’s the idea that states, not the distant federal government, should primarily manage the affairs closest to their citizens. This principle, when applied to disaster management, could not only rejuvenate our response to crises, but also revitalize the spirit of local governance and accountability.

Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) signaled he’s to open to overhauling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under President Trump as the agency has faced increased criticism over its recent handling of disaster response efforts. ā€œOn the basic premise that emergencies are best handled at the local level, state level, because they know the community is the best that you know I can get behind 100 percent,ā€ Bera, who represents California’s 6th Congressional District, said during his Friday appearance on NewsNation’s ā€œThe Hill.ā€ Bera’s comments come as Trump visited both North...

Make no mistake, Traitor Trump visit to California doesn’t mean that he wants to help those affected by the fires, he is looking for a way to benefit from it. Traitor Trump desire to get rid of FEMA is just a way for him to force governors to ask the fedegal goverment directly for help. Meaning that every time there is a crisis and a governor needs money they will have to follow Trump’s directives to get that money. Basically a Quid Pro Quo (remember that crime he was impeach...

President Trump mused on Friday about shutting down the Federal Emergency Management Agency, saying that states could do a better job at responding to disasters. ā€œWhen you have a problem like this, I think you want to go, whether it’s a Democrat or Republican governor, you want to use your state to fix it,ā€ Mr. Trump said in Asheville, N.C., which was devastated by the remnants of Hurricane Helene last year. ā€œI think we’re going to recommend that FEMA go away and we pay directly — we pay a percentage...

Trump: ā€˜FEMA’s Turned Out to be a Disaster’ President Trump hasn’t been shy about expressing his deep disappointment in how FEMA is going about assisting people who’ve experienced loss from the hurricanes that ravaged North Carolina, and those who’ve lost everything in the devastating California wildfires. He spoke of signing an executive order to overhaul it, or perhaps get rid of FEMA, and let each state handle its own disaster relief. His reasoning is that it takes time for FEMA to show up, they don’t typically know the area, they...

President Donald Trump has ended the federal security detail for Dr. Anthony Fauci, the infectious disease expert who advised him on the COVID-19 pandemic, a person familiar with the matter said. Fauci is the latest in a string of former Trump aides-turned-critics to see their federal protection canceled despite ongoing threats to their lives. Speaking to reporters in North Carolina on Friday, Trump said he wouldn’t feel any responsibility if harm befell the former government officials. A person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to...

President Donald Trump talked about eliminating the Federal Emergency Management Agency, also known as FEMA, since it’s ā€œjust not good,ā€ while visiting the devastation that Hurricane Helene left in Asheville, North Carolina, Fox News reports. During his visit, alongside first lady Melania, Trump promised that his new federal administration would step in to help the Tar Heel state. However, his tone quickly changed, saying that the states should take care of natural disaster damage while seemingly blaming former President Joe Biden. ā€œWe’re going to fix it, and we’re going to...

President Donald Trump said he was considering scrapping the federal emergency response agency FEMA during a trip to disaster zones in North Carolina. Trump blasted the agency for having ā€œlet the country down,ā€ and said it could be less involved in recovery efforts in the future. He leveled the criticism during an appearance in Asheville, North Carolina, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene floods last year, before he heads to survey fire damage in California. FEMA has been in the political cross-hairs since the October storms that hit North Carolina...
