SHANNON BREAM (ANCHOR): Obviously, an appeal takes time. It could be months. It could be years. Like Andy said, it may be a long time before that is resolved, however it is resolved. But what that leaves is this White House, the Biden-Harris campaign, free now to call President Trump a convicted felon. I gotta say, though, over a year ago when President Trump asked, will you drop out of this race if convicted — or not convicted if indicted, he said, no, because I actually think it will help me in my poll numbers. They've done well in fundraising. He's done well in polling.

President Joe Biden traveled to Wisconsin on Wednesday to announce a new multibillion-dollar project by Microsoft, which stands in contrast to a notorious failure of local economic development in the state during the Trump administration. In response, Fox News’ purported “straight news” coverage accused Biden of “trying to troll” the public and otherwise dismissed the new project.

Fox News spent the first months of 2024 blaming President Joe Biden for an unverifiable surge of violent “migrant crime” as the right-wing network geared up to try to reinstall Donald Trump in the White House. In reality, immigrants commit fewer crimes on average than native-born Americans, violent crime reportedly continues to fall from its Trump-era heights, and there is no evidence of a migrant-driven crime spike.

Since its debut in 1996, Fox News has been a flashpoint for controversy. However, despite this (or, perhaps, because of it) Fox is the most-watched news channel in the United States.

In the decades it has been on the air, Fox News has been accused more than a few times of peddling misinformation or straight-up lying on air. While that has been the case sometimes, in other instances, people have wrongly attributed quotes and views to Fox News. And don't get us started on the numerous satirical pieces about the channel that people took as gospel truth!

After President Joe Biden accurately declared that murders and other violent crimes fell last year, Fox News responded by urging viewers to focus instead on individual tragic anecdotes of violent crimes, particularly ones involving migrants. The network is concocting an unverifiable surge of “migrant crime,” which its personalities can use to reinstall Donald Trump in the White House.

On the January 30 edition of his prime-time show, Fox News host Jesse Watters accused NBC’s Law and Order SVU of “prioritiz[ing] social justice over actual justice” after an episode of the show acknowledged systemic inequities Black individuals face in the criminal justice system.

CitationFrom the January 30, 2024, edition of Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime

While Watters admitted that he had “not seen many Law & Order episodes," he should probably start with finishing the episode his segment focused on.

In response to a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing Border Patrol agents to cut razor wire Texas laid along the border with Mexico, right-wing pundits are claiming the Biden administration has sparked a second American Civil War. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett, two members of the court’s conservative block, sided with the three liberal justices in ruling for the federal government.

Fox News has barely covered the story of Kate Cox, a Texas woman who sought to terminate her pregnancy due to the fetus’s fatal diagnosis but had her court-ordered emergency abortion halted after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton petitioned the Texas Supreme Court. Instead, one Fox show opted to cover a supposed “attack” on “tradwives,” with host Jesse Watters dedicating a segment of his coveted 8 p.m. slot to the topic.

The Texas Supreme Court overturned a ruling granting Cox an exception to the state’s draconian abortion ban

Sean Hannity is a Republican Party operative with close ties to Donald Trump and other Republican leaders, and with the approval of the network’s executives, he explicitly uses his Fox News show as a platform to help its candidates win elections. So his Tuesday night meltdown, in which he blamed the GOP’s string of defeats that day to its unpopular opposition to abortion rights, bears careful scrutiny.

Hannity put his finger on what he considered the problem as results rolled in showing a series of Democratic victories.
