The latest Gallup poll released Thursday finds a new high of 9.3% of adults identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual in 2024.

The polling company said the share of LGBTQ adults is up from 7.6% in 2023, has nearly doubled since 2020, and has almost tripled from 3.5% in 2012 when it first posed the question in surveys.

Gallup chalked up the trend to an uptick in younger, liberal women identifying as bisexual during the years of the Biden administration.

Donald Trump has spent his first month as president governing with chaos, shock, and awe. He threatened, walked back, and imposed some tariffs; let Elon Musk take a hatchet to the federal bureaucracy; purged agencies and departments of opposition; and captured media attention with executive orders and expansionist daydreams.

A record-high 32% of U.S. voters say they will only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion, according to a new Gallup poll released Thursday.

The result is up 4 points since the question was surveyed last year and 8 points since 2020, according to Gallup. That surge is attributed to abortion-backing voters in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's 2022 Dobbs ruling that struck down Roe v. Wade, according to the survey.

Democrats have become much more likely to lean liberal in their social views over the past 25 years, according to a new Gallup analysis.

An analysis of a May Gallup survey found liberal identification has gradually increased since 1999, while conservative and moderate identification have each decreased slightly over the years.

For the first time in the World Happiness Report’s dozen-year history, the U.S. did not rank in the top 20 of the world’s happiest countries.

Out of the more than 140 nations surveyed, the U.S. landed in 23rd place, compared to 15th place in 2023. While the U.S. is still in the top 10 happiest countries for those 60 years old and above, its overall ranking fell due to a significant decline in the reported well-being of Americans under 30.

A new report NBC News declared that the majority of Americans who believe that crime is getting worse in America are "wrong."

Citing FBI statistics showing the crime rates across the U.S. are in decline this year, NBC News reporter Kevin Dilanian explained that the 77 percent of Americans who believe it’s getting worse are being "conditioned" by social media and news to see it that way.

Americans do not have tremendous respect for the honesty and ethical standards of car salesmen or journalists, but they still give people in these professions a higher rating for these characteristics than they give to members of Congress.

This week, as first reported Tuesday by the New York Post, Gallup released the results of a survey it conducted on how Americans perceive the honesty and ethical standards of people in different professions. (Gallup first did this survey in 1976 and has done it annually since 1990.)
