The Pentagon fired the commander at the U.S. Space Force base in Greenland after she distanced herself from Vice President JD Vance, who recently visited the headquarters.

After the vice president’s visit, Col. Susannah Meyers emailed base personnel on March 31, writing, "I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base."

Remember when Space Force was the punching bag of liberals from coast to coast? Wait and see just how many paeans to the brave men and women of the military branch established during the first Donald Trump administration the left launches in the next few weeks after a military commander with the branch effectively tried to take a Space Force base out of the hands of the second Trump administration.

Greenland will strengthen its ties with Denmark until it can become a sovereign nation, the Arctic island's incoming prime minister told Reuters on Monday, noting that the semi-autonomous Danish territory ultimately wants to become independent.

Jens-Frederik Nielsen, 33, was sworn in as prime minister of Greenland on Friday and will lead a four-party coalition government amid challenges posed by U.S. President Donald Trump's ambitions to control the island.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Friday that Denmark has ā€œunderinvestedā€ in Greenland’s security and demanded that Denmark change its approach as President Donald Trump pushes to take over the Danish territory.

The pointed remarks came as Vance visited U.S. troops on Pituffik Space Base on the mineral-rich, strategically critical island alongside his wife and other senior U.S. officials for a trip that was ultimately scaled back after an uproar among Greenlanders and Danes who were not consulted about the original itinerary.

US Vice-President JD Vance has accused Denmark of leaving Greenland vulnerable to alleged incursions by China and Russia, as he asked its people to "cut a deal" with the US.

Speaking during a visit to the Arctic island, Vance minimised recent threats by US President Donald Trump to take over the island by force.

Vice President Vance told the people of Greenland that they would be better off being part of the United States rather than Denmark in remarks during a visit to a U.S. military base in the Arctic territory on Friday.

President Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in acquiring the territory, sparking a sharp reaction from Greenland and Denmark.

Addressing American troops on his trip to Greenland on Friday, Vice President JD Vance accused Denmark of neglecting the small island’s people and infrastructure, highlighting the crucial role that the Arctic territory plays in international security.

For months, President Donald Trump has vowed to take over Greenland to prevent it from falling into Russian or Chinese hands. The U.S. has taken interest in Greenland in part because of its mineral resources and the American military’s existing presence on the island.

Vice President J.D. Vance doubled down on the Trump administration's interest in acquiring Greenland on Friday while visiting the United States' Pituffik Space Base as President Donald Trump argued the U.S. "can't" do without the island.

Vance emphasized how Greenland is vital to U.S. national security while speaking to reporters Friday afternoon.

"Well, the president said we have to have Greenland. And I think that we do have to be more serious about the security of Greenland," he said. "We can't just ignore this place. We can't just ignore the president's...

Greenland’s prime minister, MĆŗte B Egede, has called for the international community to step in after it was announced that Donald Trump’s national security adviser and the US second lady will visit the Arctic island, accusing Washington of ā€œforeign interferenceā€.

Mike Waltz and Usha Vance are due to arrive in Greenland this week as part of a delegation that will also include the US energy secretary, Chris Wright.

Second Lady Usha Vance, the wife of the United States Vice President JD Vance, is due to visit the autonomous Danish territory of Greenland this week, the White House said Sunday.

Vance will be accompanied by one of her three children as part of a US delegation that will also include President Donald Trump's National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
