22-year-old Indiana resident and legal gun carrier Elisjsha Dicken became a hero Sunday night after he drew his firearm and neutralized a mass shooter. Certainly, a hero in the eyes of any sensible person. But in the eyes of most of the cast of ABC’s The View on Tuesday, he was just as bad as the mass shooter. They smeared him and falsely claimed he “broke the law” by carrying his gun into the mall. They even denied that good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns.

A shooting at an Indiana mall Sunday that left three innocent people dead and two more injured could have been far worse if not for the actions of an armed civilian, authorities say.

Police are calling 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken a hero after they say he shot and killed the suspected 20-year-old gunman with a firearm he was legally carrying.

“Many more people would have died last night if not for a responsible, armed citizen that took action very quickly within the first two minutes of the shooting,” said Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison.

After a video of law enforcement officers acting like utter cowards at the Uvalde school shooting was released, Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., claimed that the incident “puts to bed, forever, the question of whether the way to deal with bad guys with guns is to make sure there are more good guys with guns.”

A report on the Uvalde school shooting released over the weekend left some questioning the accuracy of the National Rifle Association’s long-standing mathematical equation: “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

Authorities identified the three victims killed in an Indiana mall shooting Sunday, their disturbed killer and the hero bystander who shot him dead — and likely saved countless others from being gunned down.

A husband and wife from Indianapolis identified as Pedro Pineda, 56, and Rosa Mirian Rivera de Pineda, 37, as well as Victor Gomez, 30, were fatally wounded when Jonathan Sapirman opened fire on shoppers inside the Greenwood Park Mall shortly before 6 p.m., police and the local coroner announced Monday.

At least four people, including the shooter, are dead and others are injured following a shooting at a shopping mall in the suburbs of Indianapolis, according to local reports. 

Greenwood Chief James Ison said "a good Samaritan with a handgun" at the scene killed the shooter. He said two others were wounded and are being treated in area hospitals.

The shooter has only been described as an adult male. Police said he had a rifle and several magazines of ammunition.

A shooting at a mall in Greenwood, Indiana, on Sunday evening has left at least four people dead, including the suspected gunman — who police say was shot by an armed bystander.

The latest: Authorities said a 12-year-old girl was among two people wounded after the shooter opened fire with a long gun at the mall, south of Indianapolis. Her injuries were minor, Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers said in a statement.

A shooting rampage that killed three people and injured two others at an Indiana mall ended after an armed witness shot and killed the assailant, police said.

Around 6 p.m. local time Sunday, multiple people called 911 to report an active shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall, Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison told reporters.

Investigators believe the unidentified gunman, an adult man, was shot and killed by a lawfully armed 22-year-old man who "observed the shooting in progress," Ison said.
