The internet is a crazy place, especially for kids. Many Americans worry about what their children may find on social media and darker corners of the web. There’s a popular demand for Congress to act make the internet safer for vulnerable minds. However, the solution backed by many Republicans will empower liberal bureaucrats and tech executives to suppress more speech on the internet. Rather than resolving the problem, the bill opens the door to tacit hate speech laws. The bill, called the Kids Safety Act, was just introduced in the...

A New York man was sentenced to three months in prison for threatening phone calls he made last year to Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Joseph Morelli, 51, of Endicott, was sentenced in federal court in Syracuse on Thursday after pleading guilty in February to making seven threatening calls to the Greene's Washington, D.C., office March 3-4, 2022, according to The Post-Standard of Syracuse. Morelli has until Oct. 2 to turn himself in.

The Supreme Court in a 7-2 decision tossed a Colorado man’s stalking conviction on Tuesday in a case that defines when states can prosecute “true threats” not protected by the First Amendment.

Justice Elena Kagan, writing for the majority, rejected Colorado’s test that would weigh how an objective, reasonable person would perceive the statement and would not consider the intent of the sender.

Kagan wrote that states must prove the speaker’s recklessness for the threat to not be protected, a middle ground between the two parties’ proposals.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday wiped away a lower court decision upholding the stalking conviction of a Colorado man who sent hundreds of messages to a woman over Facebook.

The justices said the court had used the wrong standard in convicting the man and sent the case back down with a new test to apply to the case. The justices said it would suffice for prosecutors to show that the speaker was aware that his speech could be viewed as a threat and that the speech was reckless, even if not intentionally threatening.

Twitter's struggles have been mounting since Elon Musk bought the social media company and among the challenges are the thousands of employee layoffs.

From top executives to contract workers who kept an eye on misinformation, no one was spared from Musk's orders.

Melissa Ingle was laid off from the company over the weekend and spoke with "Start Here" Monday about her experience, the harassment she faced and her concerns about the direction that Musk is taking Twitter.

ON THE MORNING of August 5, in London, Ontario, police put an assault rifle in Clara Sorrenti’s face. Sorrenti is a trans activist and Twitch streamer who provides political commentary under the handle Keffals. Earlier that morning, an impersonator had sent an email to city councillors claiming that Sorrenti had killed her mother and would soon go to City Hall to shoot every cisgender person she saw. “When I was woken up by police officers and saw the assault rifle pointed at me, I thought I was going to die,” Sorrenti later recounted in a video on YouTube.
