Former CBS News and Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge testified on Thursday about the ā€œjournalistic rapeā€ by CBS when the network seized her reporting files upon her dismissal.

ā€œI was locked out of my emails and I was locked out of the office. CBS News seized hundreds of pages of my reporting files including confidential source information,ā€ Herridge said in response to questioning from House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio.)

The Justice Department on Monday blasted Republicans’ effort to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt over his refusal to turn over unredacted materials related to the special counsel probe into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents.

In a letter obtained by The Associated Press, the Justice Department rejected the demand from House Republicans that the agency turn over the full audio of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s hourslong interviews with Biden and his ghostwriter. Republicans had given the Justice Department until Monday to provide the audio.

The Justice Department is refusing to provide the House Judiciary and Oversight committees with the audio file of then-special counsel Robert Hurā€˜s interview with President Joe Biden over his handling of classified documents, claiming the committees’ request to receive the file is not in the spirit of ā€œlegitimate oversight.ā€

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday announced an investigation into massive bungling by the Homeland Security Department, which failed to file summonses with the immigration courts for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, causing some 200,000 cases to be dismissed.

The department has managed to refile the charges in only one-quarter of the cases, according to data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, leaving the rest free to roam the U.S. without any case against them.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, opened an investigation on Thursday into the recently announced National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center, Breitbart reported.

Last Saturday, the Justice Department announced an initial funding of $750 million for the center which aims to "provide our partners across the country with valuable resources to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others," said Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The House Judiciary Committee asked CBS News on Friday to provide the committee with records related to the network’s recent termination of journalist Catherine Herridge after accusations surfaced that her now-former employer inappropriately seized her belongings when she left.

The committee requested in a letter to CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews that she provide lawmakers with a briefing about the events surrounding Herridge’s exit, as well as provide them with certain internal company communications about it by March 1.

Whistleblowers have accused senior officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigation of retaliating against agents who express conservative or Christian beliefs by conducting unnecessary security clearance investigations, and in some cases, revoking their privileges.

The allegations were made by at least three FBI agents in disclosures to the House Judiciary Committee earlier this month.

Former President Trump gave Rep. Jim Jordan his "complete & total endorsement" for speaker of the House, saying he is "respected by all."

"Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District.," Trump posted on his TRUTH Social overnight. "Respected by all, he is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee."
